This one goes to Peter Osaze Odemwingie HANDS DOWN. He's my favourite Super Eagle, by a mile. In second position, I'd say John Obi Mikel although his performances in green haven't been the most convincing. My biggest hopes used to be on Ikechukwu Uche and Chinedu Ogbuke Obasi, but they are very injury prone. . My biggest disappoint is Obafemi Martins, because I expect much more consistency from him given his huge potential. |

Iyineda: yea, me too, osaze did alot during these period but then i think Obinna Nsofor tried alot too, Obafemi was not stable likewise ikechucku uche and i also doze my hat for enyeama. |

Odemwinge for sure commitment and drive is just to much - The guy fit take opponents by himself |

a lot of names in that list should NOT be invited to the world cup. IK Uche and Odemwingie made a remarkable contribution to the SE's journey to WC qualification. my vote goes to Uche Jr |

Odemwingie, K Uche, Nsofor. Martins and Enyeama have been my best players for the eagles this year! |
Re: Super Eagles's Player Of The Year (2008/2009) by honeric01(m): 9:26am On Dec 21, 2009 |
fosbiggy: Yes, Odemwingie's been a good player for us so far, i think he should be made the captain of the team because he has the ability to ginger up the rest of the team. |
Re: Super Eagles's Player Of The Year (2008/2009) by fosbiggy(m): 1:05pm On Dec 21, 2009 |
Obviously, he (Odemwingie) is the only eagles player who probably deserved to go to the World Cup. The Others are nations cup products or materials! |

Re: Super Eagles's Player Of The Year (2008/2009) by honeric01(m): 2:23pm On Dec 21, 2009 |
lalaboi: Looking that way, wish the rest have at least 50% of the zeal osaze's got for the Nigerian super eagle. |
Re: Super Eagles's Player Of The Year (2008/2009) by DrKitaun(m): 5:14pm On Dec 21, 2009 |
IK UCHE ENYEAMA NSOFOR OSAZE and others . . . 8) I agree Osaze showed more commitment towards the latter part of the campaign, but why have Nigerians suddenly forgotten IK UCHE's run of form that was the world of difference in the campaign initially ? I pray IK UCHE gets back on his feet, we need that boy for the W/C . . . The future of Nigerian football is not Ogbuke, not Akpala, not Mikel, BUT RATHER NSOFOR !!! watch this space . . . |
Re: Super Eagles's Player Of The Year (2008/2009) by honeric01(m): 5:19pm On Dec 21, 2009 |
Dr Kitaun: I thought i was the only one who noticed this, Nsofor's been very consistent in delivery for Nigeria at crucial times, yes I.K uche too is very good, but i tend to disagree about the osaze part where you said he started showing zeal of recent, if you've been watching him in the Nigerian colors, you'd find out that he's been very zealous and committed to the super eagles, even the Olympics, he showed that seriousness too. Now that Nsofor's playing regularly now, we shall all see his best. (making waves with Malaga) |
Re: Super Eagles's Player Of The Year (2008/2009) by DrKitaun(m): 5:30pm On Dec 21, 2009 |
@Honeric01 ok . . .better put, HE PLAYED BETTER, EXHIBITING BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE GAME AND NEED FOR TEAM WORK PLAYING ALONGSIDE HIS TEAM MATES . . . Osaze's play is too casual for the kind of game we play, either now or then, in a 4-4-2 u will hardly see an Amuneke or Finidi play as casually as Osaze tends to play, neither will u see Waidi Akanni or Babangida play so casually did u watch how dismal his performance was at the last Olympics where he was the oldest player in the squad and the wealth of experience expected wasnt there to tap in from the younger team mates ? Its good that he's peaking now, I can only sit down and expect that he doesnt freeze the way he froze when he threw away our chance of winning the 2004 Nations Cup just like Ikpeba did 4 years earler |
Re: Super Eagles's Player Of The Year (2008/2009) by honeric01(m): 5:34pm On Dec 21, 2009 |
Dr Kitaun: are you talking about the same osaze? osaze's never a player who understand team work, he plays almost everyone's role as soon as he sees the rest are not performing. (a negative trait) but he's surely someone you cant fault for doing that. the only match at the Olympics osaze didn't perform well in was the final match against Argentina, he did well throughout the rest of the matches. |
Re: Super Eagles's Player Of The Year (2008/2009) by DrKitaun(m): 5:52pm On Dec 21, 2009 |
u need to go back and watch those matches |
Re: Super Eagles's Player Of The Year (2008/2009) by honeric01(m): 6:12pm On Dec 21, 2009 |
i can't forget his performance at all. both him and nsofor at the Olympics, aniechebe was the most useless of all the players that didn't perform at that final match. |
