My Boss And My Account! Advice Needed! by Nobody: 7:58am On Mar 13, 2017
I worked with a woman for two weeks and stopped when she paid me for the month, I just couldn't continue due to the work condition. I just stopped, no notification, no resignation letter.

This woman then wrote to my bank that my salary she transferred to my account was in error and they should withhold it till I give my consent for its reversal.

My account is currently withheld. Is it right for the bank to do this without informing me their customer? I'm talking about UBA.

Lol. Paid you back in your own coin.
In your contract, was there any resignation notification agreement?.

But frankly speaking, a bank withheld your account without informing you? Well im not a banker.

You worked for two weeks and you collected a month salary yet you think you don't deserve to be frozen as a whole?
Bro you've done the wrong thing so dance to the tune.

I'm referring to my bank and I really don't want to go into the wrong things my former employer did.

I collected salary for two weeks not a month, try asking questions before jumping into conclusions.

Whatever wrong your former employer did does not stop you from putting in a letter of resignation.

Anyways I don't think your bank has any right to freeze your account unless there was a report of fraud. Why don't you go to the bank to make a report and see their recommendation?

Were u given an offer letter? As per your bank, they don't have any right to freeze your account I suggest you talk to your lawyer about it.

I work in a financial institution, the exact amount transferred is what is always placed on hold and not your accout

If she paid you for a month and you worked for 2wks,that's if am not mistaken.....please if UBA placed your account on restriction, kindly goan get a court order instructing them to lift the restriction as what ought to be placed on hold is the exact amount transferred to you....please be informed that an amount is placed on hold without your consent....it's after investigation when both parties have been invited and heard that's when neccessary actions are taken

It's unfortunate you weren't smart though. I had similar experience while I was working with a woman. I had to wait for the salary to be paid even cleared off my acct and resigned.

So you won't use the account again cos I did the same clearing but someone paid into my acct recently and they are withholding it.

Your bank hold the right to withhold the specific amount transferred to your bank account as long as your previous employer can provide evidence that the payment was done in error. They do require your consent to reverse it though.

I would advise you speak or visit your previous employer and settle it with her, as long as you are certain your integrity was not in question during the period you worked for her.

And since there's no evidence to show that he was duly employed into the company don't you think they can claim error?

You actually said you was paid a months salary so correct your post...

It was very wrong for you to stop without notification because I guess you didn't just walk there and started work, no matter how badly she treated you, its her business not yours, reacting the way you did was very wrong... If you was in her shoes I guess you wouldn't smile at your employee and say well done...

All you have to do now is to humble yourself and go back there and apologize to her...because what you do to others, how you handle their businesses...will all come back to you someday whether you good or bad to your employees

What the bank did was very right...your action was criminal, and the best way to get your attention was to freeze your account...

So go and right your wrong...

It's because of people like you that Nigeria is where it is. You don't take whatever is being meted at you without reaction. I would never treat my employees the way I was treated and for your info I have resolved it the right way. She is not my biz, my bank is.

There are so many evidence, it doesn't have to be direct evidence of appointment letter.

All I wanted to know is if the bank was right for what they did and I've gotten my answer obviously not from here and I'm taking it up.

Wonders shall never end. You don't want to accept what u did is wrong. Your boss could also have an account with the bank and she should have simply reversed the transfer unless u already used part of the funds. I will love to know the resolution of the issue

You know better the terms for opening the said account. Is your boss a signatory to that account?

Anyway, you can get clearer answers directly from your bank

Well, your boss must have made her case clearly to UBA who in turn must have verified that she was the legit sender.

So yeah, UBA is on point
