It depends. They will most likely be taken over by the banks, and then Top Management is replaced, life goes on. But of cos, there might be some plans and tarriff restructuring.

in the case there are no buyers for their assets, then u end up having just a phonebook in your phone. Unused data and airtime gone. (See Mtel, starcomms)
But that's hard to imagine.

They will most likely be sold-debt purchase, even if the banks decide not to run it.
Thanks for answering.
In the unlikely event that the bolded happens, the public will be informed, right?
Let me know if I should port to another network now.

MTN should leave instead.

to be honest etisalat probably have the worst business plan of all the network providers.overpriced data plans without any competitive advantage(e.g speed-they are fast but not the fastest,4g lte-the were not the first and in fact I don't think they provide LTE services) to justify it

Well managed telecom outfit, made serious inroad very late into Nigeria's telecom market with creative innovations like the Homezone.
Unfortunately a victim of Buhari's economic mismanagement but will surely bounce back after the debt restructuring, they will.

Many businesses in Nigeria look healthy on the outside but are cancerous on the inside. Hopefully the condition of the loan will be renegotiated

This is rather unfortunate. Etisalat was one of the fastest networks I've ever used until we entered the change era that came with recession. I had to look for other affordable alternative, for some reasons their prices didn't go down but rather up. I guess others like me jumped ship.

So long speed network, it's not your fault that our economy is just as sick as our president, probably even worse. I hope you guys make some kind of comeback or sell the damn company to glo. angry angry

Very very unfortunate!

Another angle
They are owing now. It's in the public view
By the time the money is paidn we won't hear a thing about it neither will we feel the effect in the economy.

Crazy crazy country!

I've said this before. In fact, as the matter of urgent the Govt. need to do something about our electricity before it will get out of hand. Because MTN also declared lost. All the money that they suppose to have as profit has been spending on Diesel

Hope a better company will take over
Rather the customers would split between MTN, Glo & Airtel...thus increasing their individual market share

The economy isn't favorable for entry of a new player...and worse, an acquisition of an indebted company seems not the right step to take

Doing business in Nigeria is crazy.
I don't blame etisalat.

One of my best and favorite network

Lots of large foreign companies have survived the harsh and crazy business climate in Nigeria.

Etisalat clearly did not plan well. They have themselves to blame for defaulting on a loan.

lol....Indirectly, as in you will hear like you are hearing this.....this is naija. But it would be difficult for you to lose much, like if it was a bank.

The truth is a lot of people are gonna lose jobs.....top staffs, that's just what's on board. Everyone is shaking.

I used to be there
