Tiger Woods Dropped By Tag Heuer by smile4kenn(m): 4:30am On Dec 19, 2009
Tiger Woods suffered a fresh setback on Friday night when Swiss watchmaker Tag Heuer, one of his major sponsors, said it would no longer feature him in its US advertising campaigns.

Tag Heuer will continue to support Woods' charitable foundation but will use other brand ambassadors for advertisements, including Leonardo Di Caprio, the actor.

"We recognise Tiger Woods as a great sportsman but we have to take account of the sensitivity of some consumers in relation to recent events," Jean-Christophe Babin, the CEO of Tag Heuer, told the Swiss newspaper Le Matin. He said the company was reacting to "recent events" surrounding the golfer. He has been linked to at least a dozen women and his wife Elin Nordegren is said to be set on divorce.

Tag Heuer joins other sponsors in backing away from Woods as his clean-cut image has taken a battering in recent weeks.

Tag Heuer had initially stood by Woods as the first revelations began but has now joined other sponsors in distancing themselves from the world number one golfer.

Tiger despite his indiscretions is still the best golfer in the world  and a major attraction as well; all these sponsors stand to lose a lot more by ditching him, david beckham cheated and he even refused to admit it openly, that didnt do his image/sponsorship deals any harm whatsoever

Spot on,

I could remember all the labels or company deserting Kate Moss only to be replaced by new names with her income doubling what she was previously earning,

Tiger's issue would die off the moment someone else hits the headling and when he comes back to Golf the endorsement would start flowing in , Theirs still a reason why NIKE hasnt dropped him

My sentiments exactly, Kobe Bryant is earning more now than he ever did after his affair. It will all blow off when the new disease scare hits us in the ist quater of next year wink wink Tiger is big money, networks have reported that ratings were down in that tournament Tiger missed by the time the network starts losing sponsors they will be begging him to come back.

Why is this Tiger acting like an immature spoiled brat. He could have kept some of these endorsements if he just came out and talked about it not hiding away and sending out an email like a punk. His wife is about to clean him out and he is on a yatch somewhere with his buddies. It's like he is so confused without daddy here to tell him what to do

When one door closes, another one opens.

Just ask Tiger Woods.

As a number of the embattled golfer’s sponsors drop his services in the wake of his extramarital affair scandal, new business opportunities have emerged.

Befitting Woods’ new-found reputation as a lothario, the New York strip club Scores is offering the golfer $1 million to endorse the jiggle joint. And while not quite a sponsorship deal, a New York manufacturer is hawking a special edition Tiger condom "just in time for the holidays."

Sure, the odds of Woods partnering with one of these companies are about as solid as his marriage, but nothing kills a controversy quite like a little self-effacing humor. So while we’ve never spent time on Madison Avenue (though we do love “Mad Men”), we came up with a few ideas.

Hey, jewelry companies, how about a Tiger Woods-endorsed apology ring? Kobe Bryant seemed to get his relationship back on track after buying his wife a diamond the size of as basketball.

5-Hour Energy drink boasts of long-lasting stimulation. So do Tiger’s alleged mistresses.

Can you hear me now, cell phone carrier? Tiger has lots of "friends" - wouldn’t he be the perfect pitchman for a friends and family plan?

Think you can do better? We bet you can.

Send your PG-rated ad campaign mockups to us, and we’ll post the best back on the Web site. (Did we say PG-rated? Yes, we did. Twice.)
