An 11-year-old girl is due to give birth in the near future and will become Britain's youngest mum. The baby's father is believed to only be a few years older than the mother.

Further details cannot be released for legal reasons and the local authority, where the girl lives, is seeking strict reporting restrictions in the family division of the High Court. Britain's youngest mum gave birth in 2014 when she was 12 and the father was 13, the Mirror reports .

The toddler is now looked after by her 28-year-old gran, while her mum attends school. The UK’s youngest dad is Sean Stewart, of Bedford, who became a father at the age of 12 in 1998.

In 2009, Alfie Patten from Eastbourne, East Sussex, claimed he had made his 15-year-old girlfriend pregnant when he was just 12. But DNA tests later established that a 15-year-old boy was the actual father.
