A little question pls.

A friend just broached this issue with me.
He gave his BOL to an agent to clear his 2004 Sienna,
Agent calls to say he is a first time importer hence needs to go to Yaba to enlist his name
in the Custom's network.

Pls how true is this assertion and what is this really about.

Sir, this kind of a issue doesn't concern the importer. Even if is just importing with his own name for the first time, because all have been paid for.
The assertion of importer's name into the custom database is true.
And your second question, the keying of importer's name on the custom database is not just a name but his information including his passport number for an individual and RC No for company's. It makes the custom carry out their investigation for any illegal act on the consignment.
