DO you want to know how to spend less when travelling and still make the most out of your holiday?

Don’t worry. We’ve got you covered. We’re here to tell you that you don’t need to eat at swanky restaurants, shop for meaningless items or travel during peak season. It can be extremely difficult to have a good time on a tight budget but by following the simple steps mentioned below, you will be able to maximise your experiences and still have a good time.

Say no to souvenirs

Don’t buy souvenirs. Simple reason is because souvenirs are for tourists and quite frankly outdated. You really do not need a key ring that says ‘Paris’ or London. Pictures are far better and fun memories are too because they last longer.

Hunt for the best deals

Hunt for the best vacation packages and compare online before you book it. Travelden does the best cheap flights in Nigeria and assists with flight and hotel packages too.

Don’t travel during peak season

Not only will you spend less when travelling during non-peak seasons, it will be full of less tourists too. At attraction sites and places where you have to queue up won’t be so bad either. Although the atmosphere may be a little dull during this period, it you will still get to satisfy your curiousity and see those iconic things you’ve always wanted to see.

Walk

You gain more out of walking and discover a lot more too. If you take a vehicle, it can be difficult to see some of the most interesting little things and very limiting too. European cities have the most walkable streets in the world so if you happen to be in one, walk instead.

Take out travel insurance

Travel insurance really is God-sent. It covers the cost of stolen and lost valuable items, covers your medical bills and even offers you monetary compensation if your flight is delayed. Flying without travel insurance really is a big risk because you will have to spend an awful amount of money if anything like the aforementioned happens.

Eat like a local

When I travelled with my friends, we got takeaways instead of eating at fancy restaurants and also ate in local inexpensive cafés that tourists didn’t go to. Some restaurants can be quite pricey, especially in the city so eating like a local can help you spend less when travelling.

A lot more people also tend to go for self-catering type hotels which means you can buy your own ingredients and make your own meals. What could be better than eating your own delicious meals instead of over-priced hotel food?

What are some ways you spend less when travelling?
