My friend will be going to Auto shops to buy a brandnew Car. Which of these three cars will you advise him to buy? He has a family of 5. While he prefers the Mercedes-Benz (5 seater) I am worried that the other two that offers 7 seats may serve him better.

I would advice him to take Mercedes. Well its still up to him. I said Mercedes because that's what i prefer.

Since you said new, am guessing your friend isn't in Nigeria, so the only thing left among the competitors is perk they coming with, as I heard Benz always have juicy warranty and perks, so let him look well and read well before he chooses.

I know the audi Q series diesel engine is common in Nigeria.

Test drive them all and choose. With the amount of money for those cars you should be entitled to a test drive.

Thanks everyone. We are back from our car shopping. Here are our finds:

1. Mercedes-Benz GLC:

Like any other Mercedes-Benz it is quite loaded. However it is more like a crossover than an appointed SUV. The inside is spacious and the leather interior feels right. Quoted price: 50k euros ( key in hand)

2. Landrover discovery Sport:

Though it doesn't have the solid look of the LR4 or the premium Range Rover models it stands a bit taller than the Mercedes. The rear seats of the 7-seater option looks squeezed in and the cargo compartment is very small whenever the rear seats are in use. It is a nice ride by it's own right. Quoted price: 55k euros (key in hand)

3. Volvo CX90:

This car is the only real SUV among them. It looks brilliant both inside and outside and have an array of push buttons. The rear seats are real seats. Its finishing inside is not as crafty as the Mercedes-Benz but it's still above average. Quoted price: 57k (key in hand)

Answers to your questions:

The guy lives in Europe and may be here for the next 4 years. He doesn't need any car in Nigeria until 2020 or 2021 when he returns. However he plans to buy a car he can use here right now and pay off the credit by the time he is ready to move. He hopes to take the "baby" to Nigeria on return.

Factor in relation to other on road vehicles, the Volvo stands alone and even in 5 years time it still going to be luck seeing one on road in naija so you probably have to import every nut and bolt the car needs

I'm enjoying your contributions. Does anyone know the prices of 2017 models of these cars in Nigeria now?

The possibility that taste and preferences may change after 3 years got us thinking. Though a 5 seater is not bad for a family of 5, what if there is an unplanned addition to his family?

Financing for cars here could let you pay only a rental value for first 3 years thereafter you could drop the car or own it for half the original price. This maybe the best way to go.

I don't go to market to buy parts sorry, I was only comparing a 2017 GLC and 2017 Volvo XC90 parts any other brand or model I don't know I ain't a part dealer
