Two long parallel wires X and Y carry currents 3A and 5A respectively. If the force experienced per unit length by X is 5 x 10-5N, the force per unit length experienced by wire Y is{UTME 2007} A. 3 x 10-5N B. 3 x 10-6N C. 5 x 10-4N D. 5 x 10-5N Hint to answer Following the above formula and supporting it with Newton’s third law that states the if object X exert a force on object y, object y will exert the same force on X but in opposite direction. For two parallel current carrying conductor, regardles of their current, they will exert the same force on each other but in opposite direction You can visit for solution to some of past UTME questions: http://servantboy.com/category/physics-for-a-level-&-utme/ |

Three drops of a 1.0 mol dm-3 solution of NaOH are added to 20 cm3 of a solution of pH 8.4. The pH of thepH=-Log[H+] where [H+] = concentration of H+ pH= 8.4 =-[log0. 6] =0.2212. =====move nine places =0.00000000221moles/dm3 or 2.21x10^-9mol/dm³ C=n/V n=CV equating the two; we have it as C¹V¹=C²V² Ist Concentration= 1mol/dm³ 1st volume = ? 2nd concentration =(from the pH) 0.00000000221 2nd volume = 20cm³/1000 =0.02dm3 Employing the formula 1xV¹=2.21x10^-9 x 0.02 =4.42x10-¹¹ Coming back to pH pH= -Log[4.42x10-¹¹] pH=10.4 Ans pH will increase Note: if you dont convert the 20cm³ to dm³ you'll get a pH of 7.4 and you might end up choosing A or D Cc: Nuel25846 reeblaze:Welcome on board |
