In the past we used to conceptualize "career" as that job you engage in after obtaining a certificate or qualification from an educational institution. For example, you study Medicine, then the natural sequel is to look for job in a hospital where you attend to patients. That would be your career. For today's generation, the understanding of career would have to change. Your career must now be defined as whatever engagement with which you get involved, either through skills, passion or investment, and which pays your bills. It does not have to be what you went to study in a University, Polytechnic or other places.

The reason you have been without a "career" for so long is because you have been waiting for it. Now you need to go for it.

Ibadan, as compared to Lagos, is generally perceived as dull, non-commerce oriented, slow, and economically disadvantaged. While these perceptions are true to some degree, they are largely exaggerated in others. Whatever one's opinions might be, Ibadan is now proving opinion-holders and book makers wrong by making giant strides economically.

Attention is shifting to emerging investment markets following economic downturn in the west. Surprisingly, a new report has it that Lagos and Ibadan will make up 10 leading African cities to watch for investment inflow. This report is contained in a research conducted by Frontier Strategy Group, an international research firm which forecasts that Africa will have 73 cities of 1 – 5 million by 2025.
