Jumia Steals From Its Sellers As Well As Its Buyers Also. by ConstellarVTR: 6:38am On Mar 31, 2017
How Jumia Exploits its Sellers/Partners for their own Malicious Selfish Interest in the Detriments of its Shoppers or Buyers.

From A background perspectives,Jumia conducts its business activities by collocating space on its web site which they call sellers-centres to its prospective sellers/partners so that they can market/promote their merchandise commodities brands items on this very platform.

In comparison,Jumia owns little of all merchandise commodities brands items that is listed/displayed on its websites for sale to its prospective consumers/customers. A large percentage of that figure about 90% or so of this representing whole total numbers of all merchandise commodities brands items that is listed/displayed on Jumia’s website are owned directly by its Partners (Vendors) or Sellers or the prospective ones in the making etc.

Jumia makes its money both legitimately and illegitimately. Legitimately by charging a commission rates on all items sold on its website that is owned by its sellers/partners. The illegitimate ones is the hidden surcharges that most sellers aren’t aware of but will come to the knowledge of the seller when the funds for the final merchandise items sold after commission rates had been deducted by Jumia is finally remitted to them. The infuriated sellers like me protests others simply ask that their stores be delisted from Jumia’s website or better still they reluctantly refuse to fulfil orders requesting Jumia to ask their prospective buyers to pay for these merchandise items before their orders could eventually be taken or fulfilled. While the unfortunate ones who don’t have a platform to voice their complain keep silence or moreover try to avoid been cuts in the web next time in this over charging billing schemes from Jumia devised crafting means in adding an unnecessary amount of money to the price on their merchandise items listed/displayed on Jumia’s website to make-up both the instantaneous hidden surcharges charged on the previous merchandise items sold and also the prospective ones yet unsold. This hidden surcharges most of them are nominal fees while others are above the threshold.

This very hidden surcharges plus the commission rates Jumia charged that is accrued directly to the seller makes merchandise items sold on Jumia’s website to be astronomically high far well above the market price value in which this very merchandise items are been sold in the open markets. This schemes as I’m aware of have been going on over the years and has remain abetted and unchecked.

This commission rates charged on sold merchandise items on Jumia’s website varies in percentage depending on the categories in which the sold merchandise item is been classified into. For example Computer Accessories merchandise items have an outrageous commission rates of 10% and Above and this sellers have a way of passing this real cost directly to Jumia’s prospective buyers who innocently bears the full brunt of this escalated inflated price ranges.

The commission rates isn’t only the charges Jumia attached on merchandise items sold on its website to its prospective buyers,Transportation cost is also factored-in/included (among the sundries charges in that lists of order) for delivery of this sold merchandise items to the address of the prospective buyers which are nominal in cost fees for Lagos based delivery address and astronomically high for delivery address outside Lagos. The other is the Packaging Materials (both the nylons bags, cartons and packaging labels etc) which until now till April the Third of this year to be precise- i.e 03/04/2017 could no longer be free but could be paid for by the sellers of this merchandise items on Jumia’s website by one way or the other all this list of sundries cost fees charges are offsets or added on to the overall price of this merchandise items sold to Jumia’s prospective buyers on its websites thereby escalating the prices astronomically high on the very detriment of the prospective buyers or shoppers.

This very facts outlined here bolstered the claims that merchandise items sold on Jumia’s website is about 25%-40% more in price value compared to the real market value of this very merchandise items sold in the open markets.

Note of caution for all shoppers/buyers wishing to patronise Jumia’s website should first conclude an comparative investigation of the price variations in which the merchandise items they intend to purchase i.e how much it is sold in the open markets to that on Jumia’s website this very way they can avoid been exploited or to fall into Jumia’s keenly crafted gimmick schemes.
