On a serious note however, many tourists from western countries are very notorious for ignoring advice from tour guides or knowledgeable locals. I have studied this phenomenon for a long time and i have come to the conclusion that they tend to do so because most of them have an implicit bias against black people, and Don't consider their wise counsel to be worth anything because they treat their own black citizens with contempt, and carry over The same attitudes when they travel to africa. It could also be naivete ,because most of their rivers and lakes lack predators(well apart from alligators in Florida), and they also foolishly assume african lakes and rivers are the same as their own. They even ignore warnings about them being susceptible to water borne diseases like bilharzia, which they have no natural immunity against. Heed advice, its free like the air we breathe.
