SWOT is an acronymn for STRENGTH, WEAKNESSES, OPPORTUNITIES and THREATS. It is a part and parcel of business development and it also helps in giving a business enterprise direction and keeps it focused.

The human life can be likened to a business enterprise where your input is equal to the output you receive. If the human life is a business enterprise then it is necessary for a SWOT analysis to be carried out.

Here are four reasons why it is important to carryout a personal SWOT analysis.

1. Your strengths are the competitive edge you have over others. Your strongest point is someone's weakest point so always capitalize on your strength and the cash will keep flowing in.

To succeed in life, you need to know what you are good at and can do perfectly well. The richest people on earth did not attain that height by memorising some theories written by one guy in his laboratory. They explored their strengths, created their game and became gods in that aspect. Instead of following the rules, they themselves became a rule by going after their strengths.

2. Your weaknesses are the limits you must check if you really want to succeed. Knowing your weaknesses helps you to be focused on your goal.

Your source of downfall is not far from your weakness. Check it before it checks you.

Inasmuch as it is good to shy away from our weaknesses, it is better if we can overcome them.

3. Your opportunities are the possible sources of your wealth. This goes hand in hand with your strengths. After knowing what you can do, you will need to know what opportunities are there for you. Permit me to say that the educational system will never teach you this.

Is your strength in singing, acting, speaking or even thinking? Explore the possible opportunities in that field.

4. Your threats are what you need to avoid and also work on. After knowing your weaknesses, there is a need to know the possible threats attached to them. Work towards conquering your weaknesses and taking care of your threat
