To the American visa experts in the house, I am an American born Nigerian who wants to start the green card application for my father. However, I school here in Nigeria and travel during every holiday for work. My question is, if I were to start the application for him, would it require that I have to be in the US during the entire time of the green card processing or i can still continue my education in Nigeria as the application is still pending? Pls, this is very urgent. A response would be very much appreciated, thank you.

I am not a lawyer or an immigration officer, but I do have a little bit of idea on this. First, you have to be in the state to file for him because you need an income and an address for the process. You also have to be making a certain amount a year in other to prove that you can support him.
