Daviddson: You sound like a very FRUSTRATED and an UNSUCCESSFUL fellow. This is very archaic. And it's exactly what the trial judge said. Modern society's law doesn't operate on JEALOUSY or BITTERNESS of unfortunate people. When you suspect someone might be living beyond his means you should have a reasonable proof of his or her wrongdoing before you jump into conclusion. You are just accusing the man from a mind filled with ENORMOUS NEGATIVITY. Did you see the "hundreds of thousands of dollars" with your eyes? Did you witness the judge being "bribed" with it as you claimed? Why didn't you volunteer as a witness and claim your 5% as a "whistle-blower" from Lai Mohammed thereafter? You don't start SPEWING bile against successful people because you are not OPPORTUNE. It is the same DSS, which said they conducted a STING OPERATION. A sting operation is to catch a criminal at the point of committing the crime. How come the operation did not lead to any reasonable evidence to successfully prosecute this judge and his wife as attested to by the trial judge? |

porka:So you mean that every politician ever acquitted by the court is because the person is innocent? Can you tell me how these judges sentence common criminals to jail terms of even 100+ years, but when it comes to trialing politicians and bigwigs they throw out the case "due to legal technicalities"? You mean people like Orji Kalu, Tinubu, Dansuki, Atiku, Saraki whose cases have either been thrown out of court or going in snail speed, would not have been convicted and sentenced to harsh terms if the trials were to take place in US or UK or South Korea or even Senegal, for example? Nobody's hating on them; but Nigerians are eager to see justice done. QED. Keep on cheering them on to spite Buhari, you hear? |

Are you also saying that all “common accused” who have been discharged and acquitted should have been jailed for 100+ years? This type of psychological manipulations of your audience against your perceived political opponents is the sum total of the entire Buhari politics. Such can only appeal to emotionally unstable folks who lack self-confidence and ability to compete fairly in an open sphere. To you, it is an excellent thing if people you don’t like are held up in trump-up charges without open and transparent legal process to assert their culpability or innocence. People who use their minds more than their emotion don’t fall for such; even if it’s against their staunchest political foes. If you remove such emotional exploitation of gullible minds from Buhari’s politics, what is left is total emptiness; which has SHOWN clearly in the last 2 years of his governance. The number of able-bodied folks that have been turned to destitute is increasing daily. The number of people who are ready to jump into the Lagoon at the slightest sign of life’s setback (even by highly trained top uniformed officers) is also a clear evidence of this. Come up with proofs that this judge and those people you mentioned are indeed guilty of the allegations and convince the trial judge(s) why you think they should be sentenced to 100+ years. Nothing stops the EFCC/DSS/ICPC etc. from appealing the sentences up to the Supreme Court if they are dissatisfied with the rulings. That is the most basic fulcrum upon which democracy and the rule of law rest – IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR PERSONAL FEELINGS OR FRUSTRATIONS. |

Look at how much space you use spewing garbage. The money that should be used to prevent hard working folks for raising families instead of committing suicide, create decent jobs at home, take care of infrastructure, provide affordable food and shelter is draining like water through the basket. rusher14: the problem with this regime when it comes to its anti corruption charade is numerous, but there are two key aspects that would make it fail; 1. practically all PMB's government officials are tainted with corruption including PMB himself. they have at various times partook in illegally draining this country & are still doing so. as such, most persons that they would try for corruption also have their own 'dirt' on PMB & his co-travellers which means the 'persecuting' agencies have to thread carefully in order not to bring up matters that would expose the new 'saints'; 2. this regime exaggerates a lot. rather than be factual about the amount suspected to have been stolen, they blow the figures to ridiculous proportions just to make the accused look worse than 'they' are. but when the case gets to court, they can't prove the allegations... 'semper necessitas probandi incumbit ei qui agit'... & once a Judge suspects a prosecutor is grasping at straws, the judge becomes more skeptical about other charges & requires more convincing... known loosely as 'the burden of persuasion'. for instance, Orubebe might have stolen some hundreds of millions of naira, say... N300m (which is bad enough). but for the media trial to look good, ICPC says N1.9b. this elicits shouts from the public & hailing for the agency. but the agency now needs to prove that Orubebe stole N1.9b & it reasons that, well, if we can prove he stole 'some' money, the judge would throw him behind bars. but for the judge, the agency needs to prove he stole the said amount & trying to do anything less would make the judge question the veracity of claims of even the N300m the agency might have circumstantial evidence on... |
