Real Madrid maintained their lead atop La Liga with a thrilling 4-2 victory at Leganes. While Lionel Messi scored twice as Barcelona produced a scintillating first-half display in their 3-0 win against Sevilla.

Elsewhere, bottom-of-the-table Osasuna earned their second win of the season with a 1-0 defeat of Alaves.
