A community in Imeko Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State where the deity of the town detests lies.

In the Lagos metropolis, whenever two people have an argument regarding facts on events that have occurred in the past a quick response to resolve it would be - Ask Google.

In this area they would say Ask Ogun Agbede! The deity has earned a legendary status in uncovering lies and upholding truth.

Bounce News took a trip to the community and met the Otunbale Jabata of the Iwoye land, Olasunkanmi Oke. He also serves as the Oba's spokesman.

He said nobody lies before Orisa and lives to share that experience because its judgment is instant death.

Residents believe Ogun Agbede knows all things and sees all happenings.

Speaking on how the deity reveals the truth, he said whenever there is a controversial issue in the community especially regarding property and mysterious deaths; all those involved are summoned to appear before the deity.

Once all the parties involved in the matter gather there, the fellow who committed the offence would suddenly begin to confesses all that he knows concerning the issue.

If he or she battles to hold back any aspect of the truth before the deity, the individual would fall down and die.


Apart from establishing the truth of any dispute, Oke said the deity prevents evil from happening in the land.

"Evil may be happening in the neighbouring communities, but it can never get to us, because Orisa stands at the entrance of the town to ward-off any evil that wants to come into the land".
