The more Animations you make, the better you become. I didn't have the luxury of a one on one Mentor even as I craved for one. But I did have videos of Jeff Lew and the Legendary "Richard Williams" Animator's survival kit or something like that. I watched d videos more than ten times and I seem to understand what they were saying at the time only to find out the truth whenever I tried out on my own dat, i had d faintest idea. I tried some more but kept on failing. Just left two well paying jobs for this and its looking like a big mistake and d thought of abandoning ship always scares me because I really wanted to make something out of this. Faced with two pills from the matrix, I opted for the third. I started working on my own, researching first hand about animating. Only then did I begin understanding what those guys were saying in detail. And now it has come to this. This post is for those of you out there facing one hitch or the other out there in the Animation world. Do not give up. Keep pushing. U can be d next Big thing in d CG industry. Oh, and by d way, I've crossed 5200 frames and hopefully will close shop on this shot at 5400. I also pray not to b tempted to push it further. It's been a Wonderful experience so far. 2 Likes 1 Share

Distractions, distractions and distractions are the tales forcing me to "not yet" end this video. Having reached 5400frames i yearn for more because i seem to understand a lot more than i did when i resurrected this project sometime around April this year. With NatGeo Wild almost always on my radar, animation suffers a lot. And they are not planning to slow down, just as i'm not planning to let up. There has to b a compromise? I agree. Whatever it is that brought me this way, i'm thankful because i've really learnt alot. Guys if you are thinking real CG and VFX, there's no better way to achieve these feats than going through this channel plus its just one of em. There's also the Particle effect and I think Modelling and texturing has been covered by alot of other artists or maybe better attended to. So, i studied and prepared a formula for animating but have a hard time adapting to it. Ive checked and tested it a dozen times but sometimes forget to apply it. With an Animation of this nature, this is the perfect opportunity to apply these formulae so i'll keep the line open for a while and see what i can do with a further 200-300frames. Now, because i'm not The Big G, i still have to act out a lot of things especially complex moves to see how they work before i can transplant with my surgical mouse into my software. Not bad if you know those moves. But the problem is, you still have to break it down between major poses and even after you've mastered breaking it down like i have, you have to understand that you are aging. Bursting a dance move from age 15-40 wont be thesame as when you go beyond 55. And in all, you have to be incredibly fit because, [talent=(determination+gift) +fitness]= Animation Ability. Its not enough to have a N500k monster computer and you think you'll animate everything, bros u ain't animating jack. So if you've come this long way, you also have to ensure that you are able to retire when you want to and not when you are forced to. Hence the formulae. And look, i found the textures to the first character again. Lost them since i switched systems. I'll be cleaning up this video and see if i can texture the other character and also, what i can do about the background. The fight animation will continue later and i plan to use this data a lot. I see Buhari and Saraki's face appearing there sef or Maybe even Trumps. But i'll definitely use and extend the video and definitely create about a 2min intro about what actually started the whole thing. Lets see how it goes. Rendering must commence this month and i'm looking for Michael to come do the Gen a service. I'll also be going into Camera matching and a lot into texturing as the year unfolds but my forte for now is ANIMATING. Below are some visual attachments and i hope to post a WIP this week as well. Ok, thats about it, Mofo PHCN just restored power again making it almost impossible to pay my dear friend Obi a visit, again but lets see how it goes. P.s: Hehehe, I just called him and he says he's on his way back from d East so me not go anywhere. Me go to sleep. Sleep catch Reid, Reid sleep. Reid have small headache for not sleep well before, so now Reid sleep well. You bye bye.

Ok, so I'm done texturing, and I'm on camera angles. That should end today. I ran into those textures from way back and I'm beginning to get a hang on the texturing tool itself, talking about d uvw mapping. I also hope to build up an environment, I dunno but afterwards, lighting then rendering. Hmmm, I've got plenty of work on my plate so I'm thinking rendering with the scanline renderer cuz y'all know how it is with mental ray. And to think ill be going over 5400frames plus some other additions dat will introduce d clip. crazy shay? Yeah. I'll be doing some dialogue on dem too. Maybe one xter alone to save time and what dat means is dat, I'll have to create n rig d morphs. If u r a newbie n u thinking animation and want to be really really gud. Then pursue ur passion jealousy d hard way. If u go d way dis other guys r going, always relying on all these "drag and drop" softwares plus MOCAP, Then you've got something else coming. Those softwares don't in anyway match your average 3dsoftware when it comes to CG. It would b beta to grind urself here, then head on to those other ones dat do magic instead of d other way round. I'll b uploading a WIP this week, but not all d clip. because I don't want to spoil anything. Still it's gon b about a minute and hopefully u'll like it. Sleep dey catch me. catch u guys later.

I know what you are thinking and the answer is NO. Well i got tired of posting jpeg images upandan and decided to go full throttle animating almost every item i could so that i can place my camera anywhere for a shot. The result... An awesome and fascinating experience. If i'll do this again? Yes but not in a hurry and not without money. It takes genuine gra-gra to go this far animating. And i have learnt quite a lot. It really has been a journey and i'm glad i didn't back down from it when it seemed almost impossible. Would have posted something a long time ago but if you know me, you'll know i hate very short animations. Will buzz you guys tommorow but for now, enjoy. And yeah, it's not rendered yet and its not the full version. Thanks for following and thanks for the patience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVyDrT0oZQ0 1 Like 1 Share |

nijabazaar: The Bee Gees are legends and yeah, I'm from the 70s. The Animation almost killed me. Ive gat 5400 frames in total. And I animated the very basic things that could be animated and for a CAT Rig, that's a lot. This thing started like play play, unto say some animators here dey animate fight scenes. Well, they did try but I just felt like doing something similar but differently. About two or three scenes are not here. Still, people are clamouring that I make a story out of it. I will be rendering say by Monday or so. I think i'll try the composition thing. Any other animation from now on would be with the 3dsmax bones rig, let's see a bit more fluidity. Rig yeah! It does matter. You can consider the CAT as a beetle and the bone rig as a Ferrari. The spine makes about 60% of the difference for me. So why learn how to animate? why not MOCAP? Creativity Sir. The audacity to think about anything at all and be able to bring it to life. If I catch that Naijabazzar Dragon eeehn. Anyways there'll be plenty of time for stuffs like that. Having done a decent fight animation, I thought to myself, why not animate their facial expressions? I weighed the odds and checked the time I have left and decided to go for it and voila, there you go. Both xters coming to life facially. So all those despicable me, hotel Transylvania, ice age, good dinosaur, finding Nemo, ditto Dory etc. They all paid off. When I come back, I'll talk about the challenges. 1 Like |
Re: My Animation Reidvolution by reidkrugger(m): 12:25pm On Nov 03, 2018 |
if you don't know a thing about fighting, then you can't animate a fight scene. The rest like the pauses, floating like butterflies etc also make up for real fight simulations. So everything is important, it all depends on what you are capable of and how far you are willing to go. For this shot, everything was coming out until I tried rigging the eyes using blend shapes and the link constraint. The result... A major catastrophe forcing me to do at least three times more work on dat region. I meant d region concerning d eyes. And to make matters worse, I was linking the constraints to other objects and to d world. it also sorts of overrides d blend shapes. I knew it would but didn't think it would be dat bad. Also the software kept on crashing. On a particular day, Oct 4th to be precise, it crashed, sending back to say three previous weeks. That was one of the baddest most sadistic evil plan 3dsmax has ever pulled on me. Very painful. Asides that all other ones just made me better than before. I'll be using d scanline render and from the little I've seen so far with it, I think it will do just fine. I picked up video game playing again. PES for now. I also love Grand Tourism but I've not started with that. Then the cable TV thing, NatGeo precisely. And when NEPA strikes, I go old school while I work, hanging them big earphones over my head like a D.J. Nice right, yeah. But they are all distractions if you are time conscious like me. I don't even have the time to have time, and that's how bad it is. I have no images and if you've been following this thread, you should see the WIP Video I just posted. For you into Mocap, I think you should have a rethink. Don't put all your faith in it unless you are very good with Traditional animation. If you are struggling like me, keep up the good work and don't complain. Encourage yourself and keep pushing. You'll eventually get the hang of it. I'm thinking what next to do and I'm gradually becoming more business minded. Hmmm, this thing has to start paying soon. 1 Like 1 Share |

nijabazaar: My broda, wetin be all dis struggle for if not for cash. since we don suffer learn am, na to make am pay na. I also bumped into camera matching but realised dat i'ld need real live footages with actual measurements so dat it could be tracked and located on-screen when I open Max. Eeerrrrr, I neva get dat time but would luv d idea and it would help me alot. But I'm focussing on custom bone rigging now. @nijabazaar,What do you have in mind dats simple and short. |

Klinshot: One, I dunno wat u mean by amarture. Two, I dunno wat software you are using and three, I don't think u need ctrl keys to pick anything, save add. But if u must use a keyboard dat urgent, there should be one in your accessories or so. |

Re: My Animation Reidvolution by nijabazaar: 5:25pm On Nov 11, 2018 |
I mean no one is doing it in this country, the companies run to SA for their ads. Check out that Budweiser ad that involved tracking drones moving via crowd in a bar. Its pretty simple, its not even geometry just ordinary planar tracking and yet it was shipped to SA. Perhaps we can start short demos of our capabilities and start getting these companies to see what we can do |

Re: My Animation Reidvolution by reidkrugger(m): 7:11pm On Nov 11, 2018 |
nijabazaar: On this, I agree. Now I learnt one thing here in Nigeria. We don't recognize talent until it's overblown. And that's why I drill myself like crazy to make what i have in my mind work. People and money will come to you only when you succeed. That's how it works here. So I'm not even bothered about SA and her clients. If we get very good in showcasing our stuff, the rest is easy. |
