Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers

1. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has denied knowledge of the $43million that was discovered in an apartment in the Osborne Towers, Ikoyi.
According to the spokesperson of the CBN, Isaac Okorafor, they did not know the source of the money.

2. The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has saluted the House of Representatives, over its decision to invite for questioning former President Goodluck Jonathan, over the controversy surrounding the OPL 245 Malabu oil deal.
The group in a statement released by its spokesperson, Jomo Gbomo on Monday, said there were reasons to believe that Jonathan had a role to play in the scandal and should be invited to clear the air.

3. There are reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited a former Governor and some prominent Nigerians, for interrogations over the $43million discovered in one of the apartments in Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The report says, the anti-graft body had identified how apartment 7B where the money was found, was acquired and had since begun investigations into the roles played by some apartment owners and tenants as it concerned movement of the cash into the Towers.

4. Agitations for the birth of the Republic of Biafra got a boost on Monday as a new pro- group, the Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, has joined the Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, in its struggle for a sovereign state.
The group caimed it had organised a congress with the Governing Council of former British Southern Cameroons in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State in the past, during which a declaratory speech in support of Biafra independence and Biafra-Southern Cameroons Coalition was made by the Council Deputy Leader, Applaud Prince.

5. Elder statesman and President of the Ijaw Peoples Assembly, IPA, and the Ijaw Media Forum, IMF, Elder Asu Beks has explained why President Muhammadu Buhari should resign.
According to him, President Buhari is no longer in the best of his health and therefore should resign in order to pay more attention to his health.

6. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has declared the rehabilitated Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, safe and ready for resumption of commercial flight operations.
NCAA’s Director General Capt. Muktar Usman, told newsmen on Monday, that the final inspection had been done and they were satisfied.

7. President of the Bureau De Change Operators, Alhaji Aminu Gwadabe, has assured that the Naira will sell for below N403 to a dollar this week.
Gwadabe stated that with the Central Bank of Nigeria continuing to inject more Forex into the market, the Naira will continue to appreciate against the dollar and other currencies.

8. No fewer than seven people lost their lives on Monday in two separate road accidents in the Gbagada and Surulere areas of Lagos State.
It was gathered that while two passengers died and 14 sustained varying degree of injuries in the Gbagada crash, five died and five others were injured in the Surulere incident.

9. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has called on the federal government of Nigeria to postpone the 2018 census.
Dogara explained that it will be better for the head count to be conducted after the 2019 elections, in the interest of the country.

10. Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, has threatened a N500million suit against former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode and Governor Ayodele Fayose’s media aide, Lere Olayinka for linking him with the recent money discovered in an apartment in Ikoyi.
The counsel to Amaechi, Lateef Fagbemi, insisted that the allegations levelled against his client were false, insisting that his client has never owned a home in Lagos and that the “misleading information” was capable of tarnishing the minister’s hard-earned name and reputation.
