Is Yar'adua's Situation Exposing Nigeria To Chances Of A Military Coup? by eldee(m): 5:36pm On Jan 02, 2010
It's no longer news that Nigeria presently has an ill-disposed President that has refused to hand over power to his VP.
Questions arise here and there about if, where and when he signed the National budget.
With a leader that could be anywhere between London and Saudi Arabia.

History shows that our friends in the Military are as power hungry as their counterparts in other African countries.

America's former Ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell noted this in a press release, 'Nigeria's military, though much weakened, continues to regard itself as the ultimate custodian of the state. If the current crisis spins out of control, the Nigerian military is likely to intervene, possibly with a nominal civilian head," he stated, citing the high stakes involved in power play at the highest levels of Nigerian government.'1

We all know how attractive Nigeria is for any power-hungry group of people.
Access to about $100billion in oil revenue, a powerful voice in the World Affairs, a chance to make decisions that'll affect 150 million people and 36 positions to share amongst lower ranked personnel, an empty presidential seat makes this more attractive than ever.

Even as our President has refused to do what is right for democracy, how do we stop the military from doing what they've been known to do in the past??
