Amandas Kitchen: Changing Our Taste Buds With Traditional African Cuisines by IkpuMmadu: 1:23pm On Apr 20, 2017
Amandas Kitchen, a catering outfit based Lagos has just launched a campaign called “Just like mama”a campaign aimed at Nigerians and the ever busy working Lagos citizens that might he little or no time to cook. Aimed at educating people on the benefits of African foods and the curative effects. In the words of Chiamaka Onyebuchi, Founder of Amandaz Kitchen,

“We totally understand that in a very busy place like Lagos, where people leave as early and come back very late, there is no time to cook good African foods, cooking African food can be time consuming and requires the native experience which many people lack. We have decided to take the burden of thinking about what to cook and how to go about it from people. Ours, is to ensure that we deliver the best and healthiest conscious food to homes” she remarked.
With the proliferation of quick service restaurant around the country, the high demand for canned and preserved food has been frowned upon by stakeholders in the health and wellness industry. With harmful ingredients in packaged and processed foods such as high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) which make people consume more calories. According to Tufts University, HFCS is said to increase triglycerides, boosts fat-storing hormones, and drives people to overeat and gain weight. Adopt my zero-tolerance policy, and steer clear of this sweet “poison.”

According to online sources, FoodRenegade puts MSC this way” Not only is MSG not a traditional food, not only are many people immediately sensitive to it, but it can also interrupt the hormonal and biological development of my children!”

African dishes are tended to be looked down upon by those that intend going continental or international, (un)knowingly looking down on their health. It has been proven that a well cooked African food has a medicinal effect. Ever wondered why our old folks lived longer and stronger than us today. It isn’t evolution, but nutrition. We today tend to eat junk and this is what Amandas Kitchen tends will correct with their promo.

“ African foods are such a wonder and it is unfortunate that we have tried o relegate this food to the background with our over exposure to western cuisine, which isn’t bad but we shouldn’t forget that our food is medicinal and good for our body. Let us take bitter leaf soup, what we call Onugbu, Studies conducted at the University of Texas have concluded that incorporating bitter leaf into your routine, diet could reduce risk factors for such health conditions as breast cancer and type II diabetes.” Added Amak Onyebuchi.

Amandas Kitchen is will be using this campaign to sensitise and make their catering services affordable to homes, offices and events. In the words of Stepon Nwosu, a customer to Amndaz Kitchen “ I have come to enjoy the services of Amandaz Kitchen, with a phone call , I will place my order whenever I am expecting guest and they haven’t failed to deliver timely, coupled with their hygienic outlook.”
