EmeeNaka:
86million poor people in Nigeria is about the half of the population of Nigeria. It's more than North issue though they must be worst hit. Nigeria is an expired country, nothing good can ever come out it.
Poverty is a northern phenomenom~~ Charles Soludo. North will be the poorest country in the world today if Nigeria breaks up~~ Sule Lamido. Absolute poverty is rife in the North & minimal in the South and thats a fact!

omohayek:

You've captured the problem well: Nigeria's problem is the great mass of Nigerians themselves, most of whom are insanely tribalistic, woefully ignorant (yet highly opinionated), greedy for quick riches, indifferent to their civic responsibilities, and superstitious in the extreme, spending far more time in churches and mosques than they do grappling with the science and technology that actually makes nations rich.
