The Nigeria Energy Essay Contest is here again! As at last year it was just an Essay competition but this year is quite different from what it used to be. This year is tagged "Africa Energy Ideas Competition" where young people from around Africa from the age of 18 to 35 develop innovative ideas with the solution on how to tackle the current Energy Challenge in Africa.

Eligibility

Any one from the age of 18 - 35 is welcomed to Participate in the Competition
Applications can be submitted by individually or by a group/team of 2 to three people and also teams may be formed from different schools, Countries, Companies etc, it doesn't mean you guys have to be in the same place and also an individual is allowed to submit multiple applications and that goes for the team also, a team is also allowed to submit multiple applications....

Now Let's Move to the Guidelines of the competition
It's very easy and clear, your Submission must not exceed 1 side of an A4 page and it should consist of the following

Project Title (That's Africa Energy Ideas Competition)
-Authors
-Short Abstracts (50 Words)
-Problem Statement (50 Words)
-Your Solution (250 Words)
-Expected Impact (50 Words)
-Are there similar Examples (50 Words)
-Challenges (50 Words)
-And Thats it, for the Guidelines aspect.
The Submission should be in Microsoft or PDF format and should be emailed to info@thenef.org
The subject line of the email should follow the Format (Country) Title of the Project E.g (Nigeria)Title of the Project. And note the any submission the exceeds the Number of words mentioned above will be qualified. Shortlisted Submissions would be invited to participate in the final round with a full proposal of your idea backed up with a two minute video.

Now To the Prize Aspect. What's in for the Winners

Winners of the Competition gets the opportunity to
Present their ideas at the 2017 Nigeria Energy Forum at Lagos
Benefit from Unique networking opportunities with other young leaders as well as some of the most senior decision - makers in the government, International development, Academic and Private Sector
Attend a range of business development workshops with support and a cash prize of $1,000

Evaluation

The first round will be evaluated using the following attributes

Significance:Alternative energy services for powering agriculture, Education, Health-care, MSMEs etc and be significant enough to impact large numbers of Peoples, Households and/or businesses
Originality/ Creativity:You are to present solutions that are Original, creative in areas that are under developed
Feasibility:Submissions should be realistic, practical than just theory, cost efficient and outline commercial arrangement that address obvious roadblocks using a specific case study
Clarity: Ideas should be clear enough in a concise manner.
The Deadline for the Proposal Submission (First Stage) is May 20th
Announcement for the qualified submissions for the final round is June 10th
Deadline for Final Submission is June 20th
Announcement of Winners is July 4th.
