Here's an update on the little girl, Khadijah Bashir, who was raped when she was 6 months old by her mother's friend. The suspected culprit reportedly hired 10 lawyers to defend him in court. The traumatized baby who is now 8 months old -is being treated at a hospital in Kano after undergoing surgery as her parents are unable to hire any legal representative due to lack of funds.

UPDATE: Justice for Khadija Bashir

Today, I visited Khadija Bashir at Murtala Muhammad Teaching hospital. She is just 8month old and was raped at 6month by husband of her mother's friend. I couldn't hold my tears when Khadija's father show me pictures of how she was brutalised by the rapist. She was bleeding and sperm was coming from her private part even after the surgery.

The culprits are currently in prison custody and they hired lawyers to cover their shame. They are also intimidating the father of the baby.

Her poor father is the one putting her medical bills and he need our assistance. Some NGOs in Abuja and Lagos have indicated their interest to help the parent. The help coming from Kano is discouraging.

We are calling on Kano state government, Civil society organisations and wealthy individuals to assist in anyway possible.

Nigeria self. Why must you show the picture of the baby? In this society, there are still existing stigma that goes with rape victims. Although the baby might not be 'aware' now but she has to deal with this for the rest of her life from infant to adulthood. In our uncivilised thinking we tend to make the situation worse than it should be for victims.

He needs to undergo a spiritual trial not physical trial cause he may get away with it. He used the baby for reincarnation ritual... her blood was the ingredient not her Vigina.

This hypocrisy of this God-forsaken patch of Nigeria called North reeks to the high heavens.

Recently there was a massive rape of boys at a secondary school in Kano. Nothing was done about it, it has now been swept under the carpet. Yet the same people were crying and baying for blood when Rahama Sadua the popular actress danced with a boy in a love song video.

The slowpoke who raped this innocent child couldn't approach the Sharia courts for justice (he sure claims to be a good Muslim), rather he ran to the "infidel courts" and even hired 10 "infidel lawyers" to defend him.

Despite this satanic atrocity, the parents couldn't find help from well-meaning individuals in Kano, they had to look to the far "infidel" Lagos and Abuja to help them.

The wounds of the North are self-inflicted and until they begin to tell themselves some home truths, they are far far away from receiving sense!

This are the kind of people wasting our hard earned taxes in court, wasting our precious time.. He is an animal even animal can do when did to that yet to be a toddler girl. Court should not seat over his case all protocol be bye passed, sentence him straight to the gallow
