Iceland is located in the North Atlantic Ocean, near the arctic pole. Although Iceland is not a member of the European Union, it signed the Schengen Agreement; which you’ll benefit from, as you’ll be free to travel around Europe. Beyond this advantage, Iceland is a well-developed country with high standard of education. Iceland has amazing natural landscapes full of volcanoes, snows and glaciers. Iceland also operates free tuition fees for international students; although you’ll be expected to pay tuition fees at private universities.

How to Apply

If you are interested in undergraduate or post graduate degrees in Iceland, send your application directly to the higher institution of your choice. The institution will determine if you qualify for the program you’ve applied for. For undergraduate studies, submit an original copy of your secondary school leaving certificate, for post graduate programs, submit your degree certificates to the institution.

Deadlines

Be informed that admission deadlines for applications to universities in Iceland vary depending on the university and the study program. However, most universities in Iceland have application deadlines of March - June for studies beginning in September. However, foreign undergraduate and graduate students should apply before March 15, except Nordic students, who are expected to apply before April or the beginning of June. For more information, please contact the International Relations Office of the University you want to apply, finding out the deadline for your course of study.

Cost of Living

According to the Icelandic Student Loan Fund, cost of living in Iceland is roughly ISK 140,600 every month for a person. The rent for a room should be roughly ISK 50,000 per month.
