ollah1: That's exactly how it is. I been in and out of Dubai nearly Ten times within 2012/2016, purchasing goods and reselling at home. From time to time (trip to trip) I even got job offers but I don't have the qualifications for those openings. Mostly IT related. I normally go on Two weeks tourism visa which permits met to explore beyond my trade intentions. Dubai is not heaven but is way lot better than sitting back in Nigeria malingering. Considering the FX rate which is around Dh1 to 130Naira, almost any kind of job you do in Dubai (as a resolution) will still make your bank account in Nigeria swell within Two to Four years. Dubai is a TOURIST DESTINATION and a SMART CITY so to there is High demand for labour workers (...50% vacancies which goes to immigrants from their immediate neighbouring countries like Indians, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Philippines, etc) Shop attendant (front desk sales person or store cleaners) earn around Dh1,500 to Dh1,800 while security jobs (CCTV operator or GATE Manning) earn around Dh2,500 to Dh 4000 per month. Of course accommodation and transportation is provided Remember one American ($) dollar officially exchanges for 3.6 Dubai Dirham (Dh). So in a way working in Dubai (even as a low-end employee) can be rewarding. Up to 70% of our brother lounging aimlessly in Dubai is simple because they don't have relevant job qualification. So the enigma "Dubai to be" or "Not to be" arouse and persist mainly because many, many people living in Dubai for years cannot compile and presents these basic facts I hinted (or more) in a useful manner for our intending Nigerian immigrants. Research well and you won't regret migrating to Dubai. 15 Likes |

mfm04622: ...and consequently NEPA, WATER BOARD, LAASRA, and all worth not MITIGATION factors would help to vaporize that fund... plus including MR. INFLATION. Hundreds of thousands of Nigerians muster up to a million Naira in their various bank accounts at one time or the other in their struggling lives, ...how come successful entrepreneurs are still hard to come by in our communities Setting off to Dubai attracts within 250k to 750k (depending on current FX crash). Now These bracket sum I stated can't turn you into Dangote in Nigeria. For once let's be realistic. 3 Likes 1 Share |

factwriter: Is squatting with 6 other guys in a room in Dubai being realistic? Is working as a labourer in a foreign country being realistic? Is working where you can't tell your people at home realistic? Is having to turn to crime to survive being realistic? Is it realistic never having peace of mind? Always having HBP when you see policemen realistic? Where are you by the way? Still in Nigeria? Better look well before jumping so that you won't jump from frying pan to fire! Many of the Libya returnees are voluntary returnees, not deported. Better stay in Nigeria and hustle instead of chasing (fools) gold on street of foreign cities 5 Likes |

mfm04622: Read my earlier post, I ve been in and out of Dubai Ten different times between 2012 and 2017 on trade visits. Am even planing on taking my daughter down there for summer camp this year. So your "look well before jumping" advice isn't meant for me. READ my earlier post on this topic and you will understand my rationality. Besides I have lived in libya, Cairo, Algiers, Qatar before so am kind of an expert in these Sahara and Gulf Arab migration talks. 2 Likes |

Even if dubai will not employ immigrants for the next 10 years if I have the opportunity i will still go because it's far more better than this hell of a country Nigeria. The environment alone in dubai is enough for me..... 5 Likes |

ajalawole: u re writing stories. everybody ain't like you or reason like u. if you don't believe, that's left for you. I have friends in Italy n Germany too, they work and they are getting paid, so many Nigerians there don't like to work, they are busy begging on the street or stealing. if everything is hard for you, don't think is hard for others. I have links in Dubai who can help u out but since you have concluded that there's no Job, good for you ,keep dreaming . if you go to Dubai now, so many police everywhere,it was not like that before ,its now secure because of the things we Africans do, robbing ATM users n co. am done with you. remember that in dead Nigeria economy, people are also making millions..over n out 1 Like |

ezeegolimited30: Why did you take off to Dubai without doing exhaustive research Why are you still there if you are not making head way You sound like you don't have the educational qualification to fit into their standard work vacancies, ...meaning you went there hoping to "hustle". Well hustling in Dubai is not really feasible because it's an ORGANISED SOCIETY. Something tell me you may not even depart Nigeria in the first place if you have the educational qualification edge. Always be detail and specific in your advice so you won't end up misleading or confusing people. |

ezeegolimited30: By the way I was curious about your moniker so I checked your profile. That pix you took seem to be somewhere around Deira town, probably baniyas Square. Lots of Ibo guys in Deira, especially around Deira Park Hotel. Mostly bizness minded people who don't have funding for trading and who lacks artisan skills. And of course no university degree. Always lounging and malingering round the whole Deira community. May God help them all. And us too. 2 Likes |

gentlegenius: Oga,i just dey laf you. Dubai that I know very well? My brother, there are dozens of Nigerians in Dubai that can only come out in the Night because they have no job and no proper documents. I was in Dubai mid 2015 ànd i know what am talking about. Construct work in Dubai is the worst work anyone can do,they treat them like pieces of garbage amidst very hot weather. Some Indians I interacted with were asking me if they could find jobs in my country and I was like WTF. Agree some people got lucky but the ratio is 20:80 The op is 100% right. 6 Likes 1 Share |

silos:Well... I chatted with him a few minutes ago and he confirmed that all what the OP said here is true for those Nigerians who travelled there with tourism visas. But as far as you travel with employment visa, you won't suffer there. But sadly and unfortunately, majority of Nigerians there traveled with tourism visa because it's easier and cheaper to get but it expires after 3 months. They are the ones suffering so much there since they don't want to come back after the expiration of their visas. |
