Kindly Give Your Advice. . . Mr A And Miss B by lalabrother: 10:00pm On May 19, 2017 |
Mr A and Miss B were engaged for about 3 years. Their wedding was 4 months away. Mr A stays in Lagos and Miss B stays in Calabar. Miss B went for a seminar in Lagos and decided to pay Mr A a surprised visit at home. She got to his house around 9pm and met Mr A getting ready to retire for the night. They were happy to see each other and Miss B decided to spend the night (although not under the same roof) and leave very early in the morning to her Aunty's place. In the morning, Miss B was already up and ready to move. Mr A told her to hang on so he can drop her off on his way to the office So Miss B had a little breakfast while waiting for Mr A to finish up so they can leave. Mr A was ready and rushed to the dinning to have a cup of tea and few slices of bread as usual. On getting to the dinning, he realized there was no milk and he checked the flask to confirm if his fiancée had made his tea. Well, the flask was empty as well. So he called Miss B to ask what happened. Miss B responded by asking Mr A if he expected her to manage a tin of liquid milk for two of them. She said she couldn't manage a tin of liquid peak milk for two cups of tea. She admitted to have used the whole tin of milk because she doesn't like sugar in her tea as she prefers her tea very creamy and thick. She further told him to drink mineral with bread if he really had the need for breakfast that morning. While advising him to always stock his house with enough beverages to avoid such an occurrence as she wasn't ready to start mincing milk. Mr A told her he was really disappointed she could only think of herself by using the whole tin of milk and not consider him despite seeing that was the last tin in the carton and he lived in an area that had no shops around. He was aware he had just a tin of milk left in the house and he had planned to go grocery shopping by weekend. He couldn't do it on weekdays because of his busy schedule at work couple with Lagos traffic. Since he lived alone and hardly had visitors come around on weekdays, he had chosen to manage that the next day which was Friday so he can do the shopping on Saturday. She was an unexpected guest and he wasn't aware of her trip to Lagos so the issue of expecting her and making plans for an extra mouth was out of it. Besides, It hurts to know she wasn't bothered about how he fed as he was living alone and working in a company that took all his time and energy. This little episode brought an argument that almost led to exchange of bitter words but for the matured way Mr A handled it and readily apologized because he didn't want them to part in anger. They quickly settled and Mr A dropped her at her Aunty's place, gave her money as usual with lots of routine 'I will miss you' and left to the office. 2 days later, Mr A called her to break the engagement and call off the wedding plans. Reason: He said the milk issue had opened his eyes to the kind of insensitive and selfish woman he was almost getting married to. He said it meant just one thing to him, that his wife will not be a good manager of his finances and home so he doesn't need that kind of woman as a wife. Now everyone thinks his decision is too harsh and the issue so trivial to have led to their breakup, but he has refused to bend. Some people think he didn't love her enough, some think he is highly principled. Well, Mr A has taken his stand and has moved on. What's your take on this? 2 Likes 2 Shares |

if she knew Mr A wanted to take tea and was also aware that was the only tin of milk left...... Then, Mr. A made the right decision... coupled with the ridiculous suggestion of using mineral... and she wasn't empathetic... 7 Likes |

He did the right thing. Shes definitely an out layer. Women are natural nurturer...they mostly don't mind going hungry to care for their loved ones. So, sharing shouldn't be a problem considering its the last standing. Mr A did himself a favour...selfish people make the worst spouses ever! 3 Likes 1 Share |

He didn't do well. She was insensitive no doubt but giving up on her easily without making effort to make her change speaks volume of him. No human is perfect, hence, we make efforts to change the one we love so as to make the person to be what we want them to be. |

Mr A did the right thing. That lady is selfish and can not manage money. She is also insensitive and callous. Let her take this time she has now to grow up and find someone else. He really dodged a bullet. Can you imagine? She probably can't do that in her father's house. Mr A better run away now that it's still a relationship. With such a woman you dare not say you don't have money in the future. She's also a glutton too. She will eat him broke and become obese too. A whole tin of peak milk. Chai Hungry girl. She be real I never chop, when they eat bread with mineral in her father's house. Lmao. Where some people get their spouses is a wonder 9 Likes |

A whole milk tin for just a cup of tea? That one is not ready for marriage! |

He did well. It's good for both parties to have principles and be clear about what they feel they can tolerate and what is / are "no-go" areas for them. Dating is the time for carefully observing your intended and being totally honest about your expectations. From the write up, Mr A did just that and he obviously was the more mature one in the relationship. Anyway, miss B needs more time to grow up as she isn't quite ready for marriage. One thing many young people fail to realise is: you can't change an adult. The adult in question will only change their behaviour/ perception/ attitudes / nuances/ beliefs ONLY because they want to, and not because you or I wish them to. It had to come from within - and as see from the narrative, miss B was set in her ways, selfishly self-centred and unwilling to see the logic in Mr A's argument and accept she was wrong. 6 Likes |

EfemenaXY:A whole tin of peak milk in a cup of tea. My sister that is just a big glutton and evidence of wasteful and poverty depressed upbringing. It shows she doesn't come across milk often, so she will kill herself at this rare opportunity. It's a great thing she came to spend time with him and exposed who she really is. He should go for thanksgiving. Selfish and insensitive people are the worst kind of people anyone can marry. Worst. They never change o. All they do is take and destroy and never give anything. 2 Likes |

Mr A is right. She should have at least apologized. That would be the polite thing to do after using up the last drop of milk without asking. Who does that? Is it grounds for separation? Ask Mr A. 1 Like |

I think in fairness to the lady, she definitely didn't know it was the last tin and she was used to using a full tin. Doesn't make her self centred. That said, I think her response to the situation was ridiculous and lax and heart breaking to even suggest mineral...suggests uncaring and lack of empathy! That wasn't the time to pick the Battle of claiming rights at all, tells of her immaturity really! Mr A dodged a time bomb really! 1 Like |
