According to the presiding Judge, the nomenclature remains the same, which simply means that the VP remains the VP but with an added responsibility of acting and fulfilling Presidential duties and assents on cases that requires the President’s urgent attention. The fall out of the ruling will be that, there would not be a Vice President in the country, and as it were, the new status quo could possibly remain in place for the next 15 months from now to Election Day in May 2011. The implication of this will mean that Yaradua completed his first 4 years term. Going by the gentlemen agreement on the table amongst the PDP the implication of this ruling would mean a new Northern President coming in 2011 would only be restricted to a one year term since Yardua would not be running. Does that mean the country would implode come 2015, since a new Northern President would like to run for a second term in 2015 OR How is it going to pan out in 2015. |
