Soft rainy winds will blow; conveying smell of the ground,
And humming-birds hovering with their humming sound;

And frogs in the pools singing at night,
And wild masquerade trees in tremulous light;

Offsprings will wear their lacy demands,
Crying their whims on a hungry remand;

And not one will know of the hardship,
Not one will care at last when it is stripped.

Not one will mind, neither frog nor tree
If mankind perished adroitly;

And harmattan; finally rising at dawn,
Would barely know that we were gone.
