Illicit Act Of Foreign Nationals Working On Business Visa By Zte Nigeria by slimtriggaman: 6:19pm On May 25, 2017
Following a disturbing observation of the high concentration of foreign nationals at an office building at Plot 20, Udi Street, Osborne estate Ikoyi Lagos.
It was discovered to be officially occupied by a company known as ZTE NIGERIA.
Information made available indicates that about 70% of the expatriates working within this organisation are on business visas issued by the Nigerian government. However, approximately 60% of these visas are understood to have expired and these foreign nationals are working without valid work permits.
The laws of Nigeria relating to employment of foreign nationals clearly prohibit their employment without valid work permits. Over 70 foreign nationals from Asia are currently in paid employment at this organisation which is seriously devoid of local content. Also, the organisation is paying these foreign nationals at the expense of the huge armada of unemployed Nigerians for skills that are readily available in Nigeria. It is also suspected that there are no ancillary taxes (P.A.Y.E et al) being paid to the government of Nigeria.
ZTE NIGERIA operates in Nigeria with a huge number of foreign nationals devoid of local content as the ratio of local to foreign nationals is 1:8 and this has been the norm for several years within the company. It is also understood that the company operates with impunity with the backing of certain highly placed individuals in society who are aiding and abetting this crime for pecuniary benefits.
The contents of this article fall squarely within the ambit of the Nigeria Immigration Service and other various well-meaning forums and bodies to intervene urgently. It is hoped that this issue will be scrutinized appropriately and scrupulously dealt with to ensure that the right steps are taken to prosecute any offenders for infractions of the laws of Nigeria.
