We have to query why President Olusegun Obasanjo has been wasting millions of dollars for lobbying in the US.

The Guardian of Friday January 26, 2007, reports on page 4, that Obasanjo has paid over $1,000,000 to Andrew Young's GoodWorks International to lobby Nigerians in the US to invest in the Nigerian economy.

In 2001, President Olusegun Obasanjo paid GoodWorks International $560,000 for 6 months.

In 2004, the Obasanjo administration paid GoodWorks International $500,000
and paid another $499,999.98 for 6 months.

Why should President Olusegun Obasanjo contract the former US Envoy Andrew Young to lobby Nigerians in the US to come home to do business in Nigeria?

We must ask President Olusegun Obasanjo to explain the millions of dollars he has paid GoodWorks International and disclose the details of the contract and the accomplices.

he is just displaying how stupid and brainless he is, instead of building and provinding infasturucture and and making life better for nigerians he is using money because that's the only thing his dead brain understands, he can spend billion yet not body will ever come as far as PHCN a.k.a NEPA  is still the way it is,if the roads are still bad and there is no security who will ever come to nigeria to invest even a mad dog on the street knows that u don't use  money to lure investors but a proper and  an encouraging environment. we don't have that in Nigeria for now instead of trying to provide that he is using money to lure people what a foolish man.

The most annoying thing is the fact that he paid an American compnay to lobby Nigerians in America.

Nigerians in America don't need any American to convince them to invest in Nigeria.

Jton Productions Inc, an American company owned by two young Nigerians is now opening an office in Nigeria and no American persuaded them, because they came to invest in Nigeria for the love of Nigeria.

President Olusegun Obasanjo is a crook and we must expose him.

he spent his first 4 years in office touring the globe and still no investor was intrested or attracted to coming to nigeria. with all the reports they have been recieving about nigeria in the news, no sensible man will like to come and invest there because there is no sercurity.

I voted for him in 1999. And I thought he would make us proud.
But he has failed and still unrepentant.

Orikinla,

I see nothing wrong in lobbying Nigerians in the U.S. to do business in Nigeria.

If the issue is that the contracts were awarded without due proces, then we can begin to batt an eyelid. The fact is Nigeria requires the collective efforts of those abroad and at home for it to move forward. And it is really going to take a lot of lobbying and I believe image laundering for a lot of people to think its safe and profitable to invest in the country.

I stand to be corrected on this.

TayoD,
From the report, there was no due process.

Please, read the editorial first.
