Update: #kwaraAt50: Snippets from Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed's interview session with Journalists at state house, Ilorin. Full details coming ***Kwara has one of the lowest unemployment rates. We want to build on that. ***Our LG councils have been created along political lines. Presently, they lack capacity to generate revenue because their economic base is weak. *** Water is a problem in Kwara because the population is increasing and there is pressure on infrastructure. Ongoing reticulation once completed and repair of water works will alleviate the problem. *** In the next 2 years, we will see increase in Human Capital Devt and support for tertiary institutions. *** In the coming months, more roads will be rehabilitated, and new ones constructed. *** In the health sector, we will see additional General Hospitals rehabilitated, equipped and staffed . *** Kwara will become a major Agric hub. We will upscale ODDA and also make Agric more attractive to youths *** Joint allocation committee does not join @kwaragovt with the LGs. It's joint among the 16 LGs. *** The challenge is to reform the LGs so that their capacities to generate revenue are improved. *** It is difficult for @kwaragovt to always augment the LGs because the intervention is not included in the budget. *** States can't reform the LGs. It requires FG reforms and constitutional amendments. *** The reform of the LGs will broaden the revenue base of the LGs to meet their obligation. *** What people say in terms of political condemnation does not perturb us. We remain focused. *** Agriculture has been wrongly perceived as a govt prog; rather it's a business. *** Our creation of the Agro Mall is to supply input resources for farmers and act as a link between farmers, markets and resources. *** In Kwara, education is free because tuition is free. Tuition fees have been removed to lessen the burden on the parents. *** Once we get extraordinary revenue inflows, we will pay scholarships to students. *** We are looking at viable management for Kwara Hotel to make it functional and sustainable. *** Roads are ongoing; even to my last day in office, road projects will be ongoing. . *** On no account should any contractor leave ongoing projects because funding has been put in place under IFK. *** As we celebrate Children's day, we've put policies in place to guarantee their future. *** We will give 5-years holiday to new small businesses in Kwara. *** No company has left #Kwara, and none will leave, because of multiple taxation by @kwaragovt. *** We created a PPP arrangement for Shonga and financial plan through debt-equity structure. *** "The true ownership structure of Shonga Farms can be accessed through CAC. *** Shonga Farms has the biggest hatchery in Sub-shara Africa; a complete de-risked value chain. *** The Cargo Terminal in in limbo because we are awaiting FG approval. Aviation is under constitution's exclusive list- *** We agreed in Kwara that when there is encroachment by Herdsmen, there will be compensation to victims. *** We are trying to tidy up arrangements of Soludero Transport Scheme before we flag off. *** Soludero Transport buses were bought for NURTW under SME funding and they will have to pay back. *** Shonga Farms has the biggest hatchery in Sub-shara Africa; a complete de-risked value chain. |
