Two days ago, we reported on the case of the Chaplain who was sacked within 24hours of allegedly “disrepecting” the wife of the Governor of Lagos State. As is expected of responsible organisations, the Christian Association of Nigeria has waded into the matter.

An official of the Organisation has shed some more light on the issue as the sacked Chaplain has duly reported the matter to it.

Firstly, he explained that even though the Chapel in question belongs to the Lagos State Government, it is being managed by the entire Christian body and, specifically, the various blocs that form the Christian Association of Nigeria which are five in number.

On the issue of the sacking proper, he said he was contacted by Venerable Taiwo on Monday, May 15 to inform him that there was a development in the chapel and he eventually came over to show him the sack letter, saying that his appointment had been terminated.

From investigations carried out so far, there is nothing to show justification for the sack and members of the chapel and many other people are angry about the situation. The church has however decided to try to solve the matter amicably but seems to be making little progress with the wife of the governor.

For an example, The head of the church, His Eminence, Primate Emmanuel Josiah, is said to have written to the governor’s office. He was then asked to book an appointment with the First Lady. We are aware that the letter written to the First Lady is not being attended to; she is not even ready to make herself available.

He then said, “If not for ego, why should Mrs. Ambode feel embarrassed that she was not called first to receive the anointing? But when ego takes the better part of any individual, that person will misbehave and if you tell him or her the truth, he or she will not agree.”

He went on to say “We understand that Mrs. Ambode is also a pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, let her go and ask the RCCG Pastor, Enoch Adeboye, whether what she did was the right thing to do to a minister of God. It is ungodly and very sad.”
