Mine is a Toyota Matrix 2006 4WD, my power steerling pump keeps failing, I have changed it twice already...I wonder if anyone can advise on what could be the cause?

There is a Toyota thread already imagine if every Toyota user opened a personal thread for their model, nah spamming be that one

@khaleesi you probably have used the wrong steering fluid your whole component could have been damaged but before Changing the whole rack, you need an expert to diagnose from the pump to the lines down to the rack to determine the issue. Also hope your steering doesn't become soft only when moving/accelerating?

There's a saying, about doing same thing over again, and expecting a different result.

Yes it becomes soft when moving but if I have to slow down and make a turn or reverse, it becomes stiff.

Unfortunately you are a woman and not DIY savvy so doing an in house diagnosis isn't for you

1. Change the Fluid to the recommended fluid

2. Jack car up, start the car with the atf container lid removed steer the car left and right to lock if you notice bubble in the fluid then air is in the system causing obstruction

3. If after all this test symptoms persist change the complete steering rack and use recommended fluids.

You can inform kazeem to do the test in your presence if a technician with the right instruments to ascertain isn't around

Also check if your car has power steering oil pressure switch. I believe it should have.

Your engine idle speed might be too low and the pressure switch disconnected. A scan may show a relating code.

No Christmas or sabbatical leave this year. The economy is hard and goals haven't been fully accomplished.

Check the cover of the power steering pump, it would be written boldly there. But research has it that dextron III is the recommended. But still check the cap to confirm

Leave the goals for Messi and live life to the fullest, you are not growing any younger. Just take a trip to Australia and go buungy jumping or simply stop at Sydney and go sky diving grin

are you in lagos?
If yes, book appointment with chief Gazzuzz. He is competent.
If you're in abuja, contact Mike,

if you're in 'North', contact Nurey, he fixes cars in the north.

(this north north north reminds me of a cardealer who's cars are always situated in the 'north').lipsrsealed
