The Senate has confirmed the nomination of 15 of the 27 Resident Electoral Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The confirmation followed the adoption of the report by the Senate Committee on INEC at the plenary on Thursday.

Chairman of the committee, Senator Suleiman Nazif, while presenting the report, said all the nominees were cleared by the Nigeria Police, Department of State Services and the Code of Conduct Bureau.

He added that the remaining nominees were still under screening by the panel.

Useless senate when would u people enact laws with very stiff penalty against corruption? The two years there is too small as well as laws that wud guarantee speedy dispensation of the trial of offenders.

Let them no joke with our votes o, else, their offices and homes/families will be the one to receiving consequences of their bribery/actions after 2019 elections.

torr, wether magu is confirmed or not it wont end corruption and misappropriation, 1 man/efcc cannot do it all, there are 37 "govs", 774 lgc, 390 reps or so, 1 million commissioners amd states house of assembly members, ministers and dept heads of govt parastatals that all need to be checked, the system only encourages corruption because they all get paid wether they function or not and no one realy holds them accountable so long their party is satisfied, maybe restructuring in such a way everybody could easily hold his/her ward councillor or lg chairman more responsible if things are not working would be better than looking forward to magu/efcc/ghost president

Bros d people occupying that position do not know d sanctity of the institution. It has become a den of robber and a chamber of rogues. They are all thieves and they are a beacon of their bellies not any democracy. It may be so with other countries not that of Nigeria. If they are not thieves can they account for d constituency allowances they get? Is there any constituency project. My guy leave those things u de yarn. Many of them all have corruption cases on their necks and more will be at d end of this administration. Have they themselves by their actions upheld the sanctity of the office they hold?
