Ivory Coast legends Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure have joined the rest Wrold to pay tribute to their former national teammate Cheick Tiote who died on Monday June 5, 2017 after collapsing in training.




Tiote, who spent seven years with the Magpies before moving to the Far East in February was a Nations Cup winner with the Elephants in 2015.




Chelsea legend Drogba and Manchester City star Toure who captained Tiote to a gold medal finish in the 2015 edition of the AFCON tournament took to their respective twitter handle saying:

Mr Man even chelsea players like John Terry and Drogba got so angry the walked away from Mikel. He caught Mikel on the leg from behind and the ref didn't blow, Mikel took his revenge when he elbowed the late Tiote mid air when they both went for a header. Tiote collapsed from the air and slammed his face on the turf. Everybody thought he was dead. The game was stopped for a long time for him to be taken to the hospital. Nobody on both the chelsea side and Newcastle spoke to mikel except Drogba. Who asked him why did you do it?

It's true, he was given oxygen to breath, and the match was stopped for almost 10mins

I remember this guy. He was the one that scored the equilizer for Ivory Coast against Nigeria in the Quarter Finals of the 2013 AFCON before Sunday Mba scored the winning goal. I remember how he sat on the pitch and a Nigerian player came to help him up.
