Lagos was previously capital. It's infrastructure mainly developed by federal government, with resources from every other part of the country, just like is done in Abuja.

Lagos become the economic capital of Nigeria, favoured by the sea port, international airport, and boarders with other west African countries. Headquarters to all multinational companies in Nigeria, including oil companies.

SW states like ogun, benefit from close proximity to the commercial capital, hence the reason for most factories sighted there.

For the SE, we are on our own. Very few federal presence. No sea port, international airport not fully functional, little presence of multinational, and long distance to the commercial capital.

All this can be addressed by restructuring. Where we can take control of our resources , and have a regional development plan.

We can trade our resources for infrastructure, this will see a lot of new companies springing up in the SE in the area of Mining, oil and Gas, power etc.

This will even ensure steady power supply and low cost of manufacturing.

Finally someone smart has replied.

you are correct with the first part of what you said, but how long are we going to wait for them to restructure the country?
Should we fold our hands and suffer because our reps are not politically smart?
while we await restructuring we need to adress those issues that can be solved with the current system,
1) institutions like PRODA in Enugu needs serious funding from the state, if you have been there then you ll understand that most of these chinese products can be made here in the east (without the support of FG )
2) Agrarian states like ebonyi and others needs to do more in terms of adding value to our produce: instead we export corn and import canned sweet corn, we export cocoa and import chocolate, we export palm oil and import gel and creams, we export rubber and import tyres, fanbelts etc
3) let them stop all these media lies and focus on industrial growth

GDP not IGR is the measure of economic development.
Any state where tax payment is not properly collected is likely to have a low igr.
Now, states with Big igr, what is the living condition is such state? Wake up.
This is the living condition

I wonder why you guys are hitting you heads on the wall over Anambra IGR, from the beginning nation economic melt down Anambra state government never fail to fulfill his obligations to Anambarians, Anambra government pay salaries before 24th of every month, least most indebted state in Nigeria, performing well in all sectors with massive projects across the state, while state like Ogun was declared bankrupt middle of economic crisis, uncompleted buildings littered the state, Ogun was ranked low in sustainability index, owning workers salaries, rated high in insecurity, Ogun top list of sucide cases in Nigeria

I am glad you said 'If FG don't want to help us' meaning you know that they are not helping us. Why then will you suggest we drain our pocket to generate IGR?
FG do not help state generate IGR. The state government is meant to look inward. FG never helped Ogun and Lagos. As at the time Asiwaju became the governor, Lagos was only generating #600M IGR monthly. He left it at #7B.
