Kobojunkie:just stop it. just stop. You continue to interpret my statement how you see fit and then claim that I was thinking in that way. government is government but each of them have their own challenges to accomplishing whatever demands are placed on them. So they can't all execute similarly and you need to understand that. Since you have convinced yourself that I am against democracry that's fine. Who ever said that they government can't do many things at once? You are here again trying to claim that I don't think that govt. can do multiple things. Aren't they arleady doing many things at once. Julius Berger can only work on as many projects as their resources allow them too. How can you compare the multitasking of Julius Berger to the govts? Julius Berger gets PAID to work, so if need be they will hire more workers to try to handle more jobs. All govts. have budgets and can do as much as their revenue allows them to. If Lagos had all the money it needed, why would they be selling state bonds to raise money for some projects. Why are you even trying to blame the government for not multitasking to meet all the complaints of people. Can the government really satisfy everyone? There are many problems in Lagos and you are expecting them to multi-task their way through it all. As you said "the state knows how to do things" so if they aren't able to address the many situations now, give them a break. What were all the other Lagos government doing all those other decades? My take on why inner city projects aren't all being address was just an opinion. Did I ever say that it was the definie reason? I was trying to reason why they may be focusing more projects on the islands than in the inner part of the state. You need to go back and read what I wrote carefully instead of jumping to all sorts of conclusions. And whoever said that democracy can't work. You are arguing with me over things I didn't even say. |

trueword: NO!! Government is Government . . . . The matter is NOT what challenges but that DEMOCRACRY should apply in the same way ACROSS THE BOARD, PERIOD!! You should not say Obama should have people talk to him of their problems but the Lagos State Governor should not. That would be ridiculous and undemocratic! You don’t need to DEMAND that I, or anyone else accept what you have chosen as your explanation of it all for yourself. trueword:Again!! I have NOT ONCE OR EVER MADE THE ABOVE ASSERTION!!! Please stop making useless assumptions of my person. trueword: Again, you are going on trying to make WHAT IFS into FACTS. You claimed people wanted it all at once. I specifically told you that is not the case. Then you chose to interpret my post on Government’s ability to multitask to mean Government can do it all at once. And yet again, I tried my best to explain again that when a person says Government can do more than one thing at a time is not same as what you claim people believe. Since I have been on this forum, I have never actually met anyone who believes Government should or can do it all in a blink of an eye. YOU are the one who keeps coming up with that and looking for ways to pin that on me and I have over and over told you that. Like I said about two posts ago, this same Government was quick to explain to the people in a campaign, that tax money is needed from them to carry out state projects. So, STOP TRYING TO MAKE EXCUSES FOR GOVERNMENT. If money is the problem why the Mile12-Ketu-Ikorodu road is in the state that it is in, LET THE GOVERNMENT TELL THE PEOPLE. It is NOT @TrueWords, or any other person's place to go around filling people with WHAT IFS as FACTS. I have been to so many community meetings myself where government has tried to explain that due to problems with budget it is unable to meet a certain goal. There are votes to increase taxes or something to help deal with the situation. It is not for citizens to CREATE WHAT IFS and then tries to get everyone to buy into it on behalf of Government. AGAIN, LET GOVERNMENT SPEAK FOR ITSELF! trueword: Now this is where I know for sure what the problem here is. Can you pick out the particular line where I blame Government for not multitasking to meet all the complaints of people? I seriously want you to do that cause this tells me something about the person I am debating this issue with here. trueword: Are you paid by the state? IF NO, why are you PRETENDING TO SPEAK ON BEHALF OF THE STATE here? I just get this vibe that I am having a conversation with someone who is not even open to READING what I type as IS, but quick to INJECT EVERY which way possible to score some brownie point. Where did you get what you typed above from what I posted? trueword: WOW!!! @Trueword, it is been good trying to discuss this with you but I think I have hit a wall that I am all too familiar with. Here I am talking of why I believe CITIZENS should allow other CITIZENS the freedom and right to speak up as they choose, and you have already turned this into another US( Fashola people) VS THEM( Those who do not see things as you do) debate and I really don’t like to waste more of my time on this. It has been nice and I bid you a wonderful evening, thank yoU! |
Re: What Has Fashola Really Done? by trueword: 7:38am On Jan 23, 2010 |
Kobojunkie: You are unbelievable. You are blaming the government for not multi-tasking when you stated that Julius Berger can do many things at once so why can't the govt. You seem to be the one that fails to just accept that people have differenct opions. Even though I think we agree on the same thing you keep finding ways to tell me what I believe. And how can you be the voice of everyone. Why can't you accept that your view is one side of the argument and mines is the other instead of trying to force me to conform to your thinking. How do you know that the state.govt has not informed people about their reasons for not being able to deliver on the projects they want? If government is multi-tasking isn't it doing many things at once. How do you not see that? Since when did people interpret opinions as facts. When have I given a definite reason as to why some things aren't being done? I was just speculating. A speculation and an assertive statement are NOT the same thing. You have been blocking your mind and are not trying to accept that I agree that people can make complaints, but that they should not get too angry if that task is not done in the time that they want because th state faces many other issues which may take priority. so you need to relax and stop believing that I am somehow against the democratic process. A wonderful evening to you too. |
Re: What Has Fashola Really Done? by Nobody: 7:49am On Jan 23, 2010 |
Kobojunkie I have not really come to terms with your point of arguement.first and foremost, fashola runs a transparent and open-door administration which any body can call on him anytime to complain whenever they need to.mind you i'm not praising him but i'm basically talking based on what i have seen so far.there is nowhere in the world that govt at any level has been able to meet all the wants of the people, reason is that human wants are numerous while the govt has limited resources to fulfill these wants, what do you call a government that recorded about 80% budget implementation,a non-performing one? I guesses not. the bottomline is people will always complain but government will note all the complaints and take on those that have been budget for and approve by the state house of assembly.people should not look at fashola as a meesiah but as an adminisrator who only administrate based on what is in his jurisdiction |
Re: What Has Fashola Really Done? by Kobojunkie: 7:53am On Jan 23, 2010 |
~Bluetooth: @Bluetooth, I do not NOW NOR WILL I EVER give a FLYING hoot about your personal view of Fashola. Please get that straight ONCE AND FOR ALL. FOR ALL I CARE, you can set up a mantle in your living room to worship him, that will be between you and the man himself. I don't give a darn! ALL I have been saying and continue to harp on is CYBER and INPERSON TERRORISM/AGBEROISM/BULLYING, PRETENDING it is ON BEHALF OF the Governor, is WORKING AGAINST our DEMOCRACY ( whether we are talking of Fashola or the man to come after him, or the man to come after that man, or even Yar adUA AND any other person in Government in any democracy) . I don't care who the current governor is, all I care is that the governor serve the people, and we leave it up to the governor's to decide what complaints they will hear and which to ignore. It just NOT YOUR place to make that decision, NOR ANY CYBER BULLY OR AGBERO's job to do that . ~Bluetooth: HERE again . . . . . OPEN YOUR EYES AND READ . . . . it is in ENGLISH LANGUAGE!!! People who live in Lagos are here complaining, and many hoping the government will hear their complaints. Some are even being specific enough to point out what their problems are, yet you are here telling them patience is the answer, while others are telling them they have absolutely no right to complain? Of course they know that but should that stop them from airing their grievances? People know patience is the answer with the Obama Administration. Someone can even argue that he is starting from “afresh”, but that did not stop people from going ahead to complain, up to the polls on Tuesday, Why not work instead to help get the complaints of the people to the governor, if you are one of those on his payroll on here? Why try to SHUT THEM UP INSTEAD? Last I checked, we live in a Democracy and it is not your place, or mine, to decide WHO CAN AND WHO CANNOT COMPLAIN, OR IS IT? it is actually in plain words . . . this is all it has been. Simple!!! IT IS IN BABY ENGLISH TOO SINCE THERE IS NO GRAMMAR IN THERE! IS IT TOO MUCH TO ASK PEOPLE TO READ WHAT IS TYPED RATHER THAN INJECTING RIDICULOUS CONNECTIONS HERE AND THERE TO CREATE SOME DISCONNECTED WWEB? AARRGG!! |
Re: What Has Fashola Really Done? by Nobody: 8:06am On Jan 23, 2010 |
Kobo I would have love to continue arguing with you but you have enough sentiments in your mind which has continued to hamper on your judgement so far but anyway i am not giving up that in as much people have the right to complain which the government has zero-tolerance for,i dont expect them to think that fashola will turn lagos around overnight not mindong the little resources within his reach, i dont kiss a s s madam |
Re: What Has Fashola Really Done? by Kobojunkie: 8:12am On Jan 23, 2010 |
Ugh!! Now I am the sentimental one, great!! The one who refuses to read POSTS AS IS is calling me the blind one. ROFLMAO!! ROFLMAO!!!! This is seriously hillarious at this point!! This is what I see you doing
DO YOU SEE HOW THE INFORMATION YOU OFFERED UP IN THIS pretend CASE IS really USELESS considering your friend already told you that he knew all that, but still wants to complain about the state of the roads and hope his complaint is heard? Don't you see how self-serving that might seem since your friend did NOT ask you for the information you offered up but simply opened up on his concerns? |
Re: What Has Fashola Really Done? by Nobody: 8:19am On Jan 23, 2010 |
You keep repeating the same thing because you saw anybody defending fashola as an agbero going by your assumption.critical analysis not personal assumption is what i expected from you not this crap you are typing indeed i just knew u aint tough as i think. |
Re: What Has Fashola Really Done? by Kobojunkie: 8:28am On Jan 23, 2010 |
~Bluetooth: When someone keeps repeating the same thing to you, NOTE, it could probably be because you are NOT getting it still. What has Fashola the man to do with all I have said so far? I don't know. Now, you mention my being tough. What has that to do with you simply reading posts directed at you AS IS? I don't know. I really have to say this is a lost cause and I think it best we call it a life at this point. I am saying 'Ta la n to lo ', and you are not even going 'To lo n ta la', you are way way across the sea with your own comebacks and there is no point to this. I will wait for people who can read instead. Thanks ! |

i did some shopping in oshodi during the time he was starting the works and tears came to my eyes when it became obvious that lagosians (im very sorry to say) are 'enemies of progress* they had to resort to violence, and manhandling to get these goats to come off of government property!!! Honestly any other governor woud have given up and just spent your money on houses in hampstead! this man continued (maybe not perfect, but today dont u see change?? @poster obviously the 'enemies of progress' can never benefit for the better they can only complain and everyone else complainin, does brf look like superman?? does he resemble the sultan of dubai or bill gates?? with billions at his immediate disposal?? how do u expect him to fix every little road with little time and limited resources?? i am actually very in love with this man and will support him as long as he remains active!!! my state needs a leader like you!! GO BRF GO!!! |

@trueword I dont know you well here on nairaland but it would be appropriate to listen and reason with what Kobojunkie is saying here. From what i read up there on this topic, she is far way better than you in analyzing real situations without trying to win friends or fans along the way. I have noticed something here on NL. People start to lean towards those who agree with them all the time simply because they are afraid to receive the real truth. There is virtual groups here on nairaland and each time you venture into their cabal and disagree with one of them, The other members attack you instantly without finding out why. @topic I know Fashola did somethings in Lagos but that was because other governors did virtually nothing. How do you explain a situation where a state governor becomes a multi billionaire as soon as he steps down from office ? Where in the western, civilized, developed and democratic world have you heard of that ? Chasing poor people away from their base of livelihood in Oshodi without plan on where to relocate them is called political Earthquake. Because you are a state Governor doesn't give you power to do things however you deem fit. |

I BELIEVE THAT FASHOLA IS JUST DOING HIS JOB. HOWEVER IN A COUNTRY WHERE LEADERS DONT DO THEIR JOBS AND INSTEAD SQUANDER MONEY ONCE THEY ARE IN POWER, ANYBODY WHO EMERGES TO DO THE OPPOSITE E.G. FASHOLA, EVEN THOUGH IT IS PART OF HIS JOB PROFILE IS SEEN AS DOING A GREAT JOB. SO I SAY YES, HE HAS DONE A LOT AND IS STILL DOING. HE IS A GREAT MAN. |

@Kobojunkie: I know u are either one of Fashola's political detractors or a cynic who does not see anything good in what others do. For any Lagosian to argue in this your manner is to argue, I am very sorry,' unwittingly'. To say but a few,Fashola has: 1, TRANSPORTATION, BRT, road construction,Lag buses, partnership with LMRT, etc thereby reducing the transportation cost for the citizens, reducing the cost of living and consequently increasing the standard of living. 2, SECURITY ,when last did u hear of major burglary case, armed robbery case, rape is reduced, bank robbery is non-existent,etc. 3, ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT, the old Lagos, due to the small land space and congestion, used to be dirty and stinking but now one of the neatest in the country. 4, Beautification, the road sides are with mini- gardens, interlocking pavements, Christmas time was wonderful to the extent that my Indian boss commended our govt,he said it is always individual thing in India but here in Lagos it is the govt affair.Oshodi, etc is wearing a new look 5, EDUCATION, the new face of the public primary schools and secondary schools is highly commendable.Teachers are now paid well and monitored by the deputy governor directly.I heard of new furniture items including chairs, tables, etc for both teachers and students. 6, Job creation, LASTMA, LAWMA,etc have employed like how many in your own estimation, there is a transformer -producing company co-owned by an Egyptian company and Lagos State and some other ones. Please if Nigeria is like Lagos and our other leaders are doing all these within a span of two and a half years as in the case of Fashola, then we will have little or no problem.Let us commend this indefatigable leader who has been establishing a good legal and infrastructural framework in order to have a better Lagos State.Instead of saying all this trash compare him with your State governor because I know u are not from Lagos State and u shall see that d difference is clear. |

Sam Milla: Many posters have listed what he has done, even the one below yours. Saying he hasn't done anything is not only lies ad dishonesty, it prevents people from taking you seriously because it's not only obvious what he has done, it's out there in the open. Every sane and rational human being knows it's absolutely impossible to transform overnight decades of rot and neglect, but one thing you can not honestly let out of your mouth is "Fashola is not doing anything" You were talking about Oshodi and how Fashola abused his power, Is this not the same oshodi and what fashola is doing? if getting rid of dirt, chaos, insanity and replacing with sanity, cleanliness and safety is abuse of power, I'll def' want him to abuse his power every second and every day, Fashola Visits Oshodi To Inspect 601 Shop Kaiyero Market Extension. http://happylagosian..com/2010/01/fashola-visits-oshodi-to-inspect-601.html What about oluwole? The lagos state governor is indeed working for his people which is a positive change from our normal 'sitdown chop governors with state funded billboards e.g ogun state advrtising their success' I have been to lagos regularly in the last 7years and in terms of infrastructuraly developments such as roads, schools etc. i score the governor highly. Its virtually impossible to affect every area of the state due to decades of negligance by previous administrations. The world's developed economies werent developed in 2,4 or 10 years it took them centuries. We should always encourage good leaders like fashola and help in our own little way by positively contributing to our own village/state/country. |
