Update On OAU MSSN Crisis And Shut Down Of Mosques by Catalyst001(m): 6:58am On Jun 13, 2017 |

Following the closure of the hall of residence Mosques of
Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile –Ife by the university
authority last Sunday(June 4,2017). The Muslim Alumni body under the
aegis of University of Ife Muslim Graduate Association
(UNIFEMGA), has promised to carry out comprehensive
renovation of all the affected residential mosques.
This was contained in a statement obtained by IFE CITY
NEWS signed by Alhaji AbdulWaheed Odeyimka unbehalf of
National Secretariat of UNIFEMGA.
It was gathered that the OAU management has handed over
residential mosques to the Chief Imam of the Muslim
Community, Professor A. A. Sanusi for proper monitoring.
Part of the release read: “UNIFEMGA will in conjunction with
the Muslim Community urgently embark on the renovation
of the Mosques and put in place proper protocol for the use
of the Mosques and appointment of the Hall Mosque
officials”
“We urge all members of the Muslim Community of OAU
including all our Muslim Students that in the spirit of the on-
going fast of the month of Ramadhan to continue to work for
the peace and well-being of the Ummah”, the statement
added.
It implored all her members to support the UNIFEMGA in
ensuring permanent resolution of the crisis.
It commended the positive intervention of the crisis by Prof.
Daud Noibi –led Muslim Ummah of South West.
Among the resolutions was the re-establishment of the
authority and control of all the Mosques within the
university under the leadership of the OAU Chief Imam,
Prof. Abubakar Sanusi.
