Reps Summon MTN, Glo, Others Over Job Losses by ijustdey: 7:19am On Jun 13, 2017
A House of Representatives panel has summoned the chief executive officers of MTN, Glo, Airtel, Etisalat and Intel to appear before it tomorrow over the massive job losses in the telecoms sector.

The committee on telecommunications, chaired by Saheed Fijabi (APC, Oyo), said the five service providers have questions to answer regarding their recent actions of sacking many Nigerians without justifiable cause.

The five companies would also respond to queries on their failure to remit to government coffers, actual taxes as a result of their activities in Nigeria.

Fijabi said their invitation followed the inability of the CEOs to appear before the committee.

He told Daily Trust in Abuja yesterday that the committee would not accept representatives of the CEOs; as such persons cannot provide satisfactory explanations.

These politicians are clowns...
After moving the Economy from bad to worse, and job losses become inevitable, they decide to hold meetings with stakeholders in the Banking, oil and telecommunications industries, practically pleading with them to stop sacking people.
How does it solve the problem?
It's like treating the symptoms of an ailment while the underlying root cause remains unabated.
Does the Government ever pity the plight of these companies?
After paying mouth watering taxes every quarter, they operate 24 hours on Diesel plants, which has become the least of their problems,in the face of austere economic challenges.
Does the Government even get bothered by the perennial exit of hitherto viable companies from Nigeria to other neighbouring countries?
Do they even consider the fact that the Nigerian consumers are the most exploited and short changed by multinationals such as DSTV and MTN due to their lax Government policies and weak consumer protection?
Doesn't it matter to them that the Nigerian employees are constantly harassed and abused by their Employers especially Chinese,Indians and Lebanese due to their ineffective labour laws?
The Government should do first things first, and stop chasing shadows.

In the other way round,
1. FG should be summoned before its citizens for why they've caused untold hardships faced today in the country.

2. And why the changes so far has been on paper and virtual...

3. And why CBN FX interventions has been futile...

4. And why the $100 limits placed on Naira MasterCard...

5. And why there have not been uninterrupted power supply since the APC government took over...

sad

This is like beating a child and asking the child why he is crying.

-The economy is in a recession,
-You fined them an unsurmountable amount,
-Good electricity and security is almost nonexistent.
-The Nigerian clime has become most incondusive for business to thrive.

Why won't they sack people

Even Boko Haram has stopped recruiting members.

They don't have direction, Trump promised to bring back American jobs. First thing he did in getting to office was to negotiate reliefs for companies who were already set to go, saving thousands of jobs for the American people.

The APC Government that promised to create jobs, are busy rolling out anti-business friendly laws, and taxes upon taxes, creating more bottlenecks and some zombies will be singing their praises. undecided undecided undecided

Let's approach this matter technically..

When the olodos, rogue, thugs in the higher institutiona are eventually the ones handling matters that requires thinking, logical reasoning, mathematical comprehension and grammatical understanding u can't expect more than this from them na...

Education is not to go to school alone, but it application in handling trivial issues, and these issues are what they have run away from during school days by buying certificate.

Only the wise can understand the above...

7. And why is inflation at 17.9% basically devaluing the money in people's pockets? N10,000 last year is now worth N8,300 meanwhile prices have gone up at the same time. They've basically impoverished the citizens.
