we don't play youngsters as an excuse for if we lose, it has obviously been Wenger's strategy in the League Cup for years, nothing new there - its where players like van persie, fabregas and co honed their skills well enough to feature consistently in the first team.

like I said previously, improving the education of these youngsters is far more important to AW than winning the Carling Cup. If we win it, then good, but if not, its not because we played youngsters, we just lost to the better team on the night.

Depending on injuries and whatever else happens between now and the 25th, we might be fielding a side close to the first team, but since Lehmann got booked yesterday, we obviously will not play the 'complete' first team.

2) Most gunners do hide under that canopy. Your team prefers youth and if you lose thats your trouble. Just watch what people will be saying after the match.

AW will always prefer the development of his young players over the Carling Cup, that doesn't mean he doesn't want to win it, but that is second in the list of priorities after the development of his young players.

If he simply wanted to win, he could easily have drafted in lehmannn, henry and co for the semi finals, the boys need exposure and games which they may not be able to get at the premiership/FA cup, so development comes first.
