Saint Paul Anglican Church, Sodubi-Onikolobo, Abeokuta, Ogun State, is one of the orthodox churches in the town where Christianity started centuries. It is a famous church, being located not too far from the official seat of the Anglican Church in the city.
But the unexpected happened penultimate Sunday when Satan literarily entered and took over affairs in the hallowed portals.

This was what happened when persons believed to be thugs entered the church with guns, disrupting the service and forcing the venerable priest and members of the congregation to scamper for safety.
The gunmen invaded the church over allegation that the priest, Olumuyiwa Adekoya, was too blunt in his preaching on the pulpit. He was allegedly prevented from entering the church for the day’s service.

Not believing what was happening, Adekoya’s attempt at entering the church where he was deployed few months back met stiff opposition by the thugs numbering about six. They reportedly ordered those who loved their lives to leave the church premises.
Irked by the unfortunate incident, the church minister and some other topshots of the church relocated to the Vicarage.
The Senator reportedly told the congregation that The Venerable was accused of “raining too much curses in the church.”
A source told Daily Sun; “What has happened in the church is not new. For your information, it was the fourth in recent times. This is not good for the image of our church’’.

“What has been happening in this church is nothing but politics. This is the fourth Venerable that our so- called elders would disagree with. It is born out of greed. Even if a Reverend preaches and it affects you, what a reasonable person should do is to make amends’’.
Adekoya would not comment on the incident saying that the matter had been reported to the Bishop, who would take appropriate action.
Last Sunday when one had thought that peace would have returned to the place of worship, angry youths numbering about 100 sealed off the church at Sodubi, Onikolobo, area of the state capital. The day’s service was conducted under security watch.

Policemen from the state command led by the Divisional Police Officer, Adigbe, Abeokuta, Mr. Emmanuel Onwubuyah, mounted surveillanc as few elders managed to enter the auditorium.
The elders, were said to have secured the help of the policemen to break the keys allegedly used by the youths of the church to seal off the premises.
The DPO, Onwubuyah, had a hectic time begging the warring parties to give peace a chance as he struggled to supervise the opening of the entrance.
He said he ordered the padlock to be broken because it was illegal for any party to take the laws into its hands. “It amounts to resorting to self help”, he said.

It was drama galore as 20 of the youths gathered under a house opposite the church to hold a prayer session, calling on God to scatter their perceived enemies who were bent on destroying the church, as the elders trickled into the church.
A female youth member who spoke on condition of anonymity said: “This same set of elders has ensured that about three vicars of the church did not enjoy their stay here. Why the same set of people? They want to hold a service. Where is the choir, the ushers, where are the members? What we believe is that God will fight for himself.”

Justice Shekoni, who spoke in favour of the elders said he was one of those who trained the late afro beat musician, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti; “When I was at their own level as a youth, none of these tricks would do then. If we start our own, none of them will be able to stand us. Revd, Ransome Kuti, trained us. I trained Fela. So, who are these people to say they are youths and be locking up the church,” he told inquisitive journalists as he led other elders into the church at about 12.16p.m to start the day’s service.

can u see what our churches are turning into this days that really shows that people no longer fear their creator when their hope is bent on this earth, politics in church

Seun pls post this in the first page
