The long-anticipated boxing match between the great prize-fighter Floyd Mayweather and UFC star Conor McGregor will go ahead on August 26 in Las Vegas. The fight that has been described as a “farce” and a “circus” bout could earn both men as much as $100m (£78.4m). Both fighters announced the event on Wednesday, after months of speculation about whether Mayweather would return at the age of 40 to face a mixed martial arts fighter who has never had a pro boxing fight.
