Against backdrop of protests embarked upon by workers on legislative floor of National Assembly few days over alleged unpaid and salaries delay, the SunTrust Bank has reacted to the alleged claims of staff that the bank is responsible for their industrial action due to the acclaimed delay in wages.

The lender further explained that the bank has always remain committed to its responsibility of customer satisfaction and as well discharge its constituted obligations and other financial responsibilities including other services that could be required of SunTrust bank for which NASS workers were part of.

The financial institution recalled that the protest by legislative aides was triggered by death of Hassan Abiodun, an aide to the Deputy Speaker, Yusuf Suleiman, as they blamed the death on non-payment of salaries.

The Executive Director, Finance and Risk Management, SunTrust Bank, Usman Abdulqadir, said that the bank had duly executed all mandates passed its management, by the NASS, with respect to making payment on behalf of its customers promptly.

Abdulkadir, who briefed newsmen on behalf of the bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Muhammad Jibrin, at the bank’s office in Lagos, said as banker to some National Assembly accounts, there was mandate to make payments to various beneficiaries and that the order had been relayed, some via REMITA, to the relevant banks.
