Omega Mwaikambo was arrested on suspicion of “sending malicious communications and obstructing a coroner” hours after Wednesday’s fire.
He has now been charged with two offences under the under section 127 of the Communications Act in relation to “improper use of a public electronic communications network”.

Under the act he has been accused of sending “by means of a public electronic communications network a message or other matter that is grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character”.


“HE WILL APPEAR IN CUSTODY AT WESTMINSTER MAGISTRATES’ COURT ON FRIDAY, 16 JUNE.”

On Facebook, he is alleged to have posted one picture with the caption: “Does anyone know this body lying outside my flat for more than two hours.”



Police were told of the images and arrested Mwaikamba closeby to the smouldering Grenfell high-rise in which at least 17 people died.

In a statement, Scotland Yard told Daily Star Online: “Omega Mwaikamba, 43, of Testerton Walk, W11, was charged on Thursday, 15 June with two counts under s127 of the Communications Act.

“He will appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 16 June.”
