London based Journalist, youths march against unethical news in Lagos

By Peter Williams

A London based journalist and Public Relations consultant, Lekan Fatodu, and scores of community youths have staged protest against unethical practice of journalism and unprofessional news publication which they claimed have become of the day in Nigeria.

They said that due to advent of internet and lack of functional body that regulates and determines news publishing operators, several online publishers have turned themselves to blackmailers and bullied people through various available platforms of choice.

The protesters in their hundreds registered their grievances through various inscriptions on placards held during the demonstration on Friday at Ikeja Government Residential Area(GRA) axis of Lagos.

Fatodu, who led the protest, said it had become absolutely necessary to raise serious awareness on danger of unethical news publication which he said was not only bad for the health of the nation but also troubling for the well-being of the populace.

While addressing scores of protesters, the London based journalist alleged that there were several publishers operating online media organisation to attack and blackmail people who do not dance to their tunes.
