PID means you have an infection in your pelvic organs. The doctor who attended to you didn't treat you?You need to do HVS(take a vaginal swab) so you are tested for the causative organism and treated appropriately.
Yes,PID if not treated or not treated well on the long term can lead to infertility.

Where did gonorrhea come from?

1) why do people always come to seek a second, more trusted opinion on a faceless forum?

2) you are 26 ma'am, married, and has been on family planning for 5 years, using a long acting method of contraception (intrauterine device). Your choice of contraception wasn't the best for you from the outset, which they must have adviced you against at that point. The IUCD is better for those that have had at least a child, and usually not for someone as young as you are.

3) who diagnosed the "gonorrhoea"? How was the pelvic inflammatory disease diagnosed? Usually it is necessary to have a swab taken (HVS, ECS) for MCS to affirm the diagnosis, and to determine the optimal medication for treatment, and not by mere history and a scan

4) you only removed the IUCD a month ago, it takes a while (a few months) for the hormones to wear away and for your endometrial lining to be in optimal condition for pregnancy, so give it some time

5) the term infertility is only appropriate after a couple have not being able to achieve Pregancy despite having regular unprotected sexual intercourse for a period of over 18 months.

6) any other questions? Please visit your gynaecologist.

well the pelvic inflammatory disease most likely arose from the gonorrhea which tends to be asymptomatic in females in contrast to males where it manifest as painful urethral discharge.,burning sensation etc...this ongoing imfection could eventually become chronic leading to PID . PID is an ascending infection involving the female genital tract....the tubes, uterus, cervix etc...in severe cases the tubes become blocked ...pyosalpinx...following salpingitis ..preventing the sperm from reaching the ampulla where fertilisation takes place..right now you may need intravenous antibiotics to tackle the infection.. some series of investigations have to be carried out to assess patency of your tubes ...an ultrasound, hysterocontrast synography, laparoscopy and dye hydrotubation etc...im not an o n g specialist though but this is the lil I can say..p.s the IUD that was likely inserted was either copper T or mirena...in very few cases would it cause PID as i assume it was placed under aseptic measures

Thank you. You have said it all.
While a second opinion is sometimes warranted, and even encouraged, where you get that advise from can make or break you. She should have gone to another doctor, preferably a gynecologist, for the second opinion, not Nairaland, to confirm and ensure proper treatment of the PID. This increases the chances of getting pregnant faster.

. Pelvic inflammatory disease is an inflammatory condition of pelvic calvity that may starts from cervix and spread to Endometritis that is the inflammation of the uterus (womb), spread to Salphigitis that is the inflammation of the fallopian tube and spread to Ophoritis that is the inflammation of the Ovaries which can cause infertility. And if all this is affected by this bacterial infection, no any amount of antibiotic that can cure it but to relief you of the symptoms and excess intake of antibiotic can at the same time cause other damage to reproductive system. There is pure natural and curative herbal product from China that cure any kind of inflammation of the cervix (PID). This herbal medicine are effective incuring any kind of infections permanently and completely without any side effect because they are pure herbs from China. I have personally used this product to cure many infections such as E-cole, staph candidiasis, chronic PID of four years, urinary and vigina tract infection, etc. This product not only cure the infection but clear off anything that will cause infertility and pave way for easy conception. Though, the treatment maybe a bit expensive but the efficacy is guarantee. Chat me up on whatsapp for details. 0/8/0/6/8/8/0/3/3/8/6.
