Uganda and Russia have signed a pact on development of uranium into nuclear power for “peaceful purposes.”

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed yesterday in Moscow by Uganda’s State minister for Minerals Simon D’Ujanga and Russia’s deputy director-general of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation, Nikolai Spasskiy.

Other areas of collaboration under the pact include, radiological and physical security, fundamental and applied researches, human resource training, and nuclear research centres based on multifunctional research reactors.

Uganda’s nuclear discussions with Russia commenced last October shortly after the launch of the Uganda-Russian Joint Permanent Commission, an inter-governmental framework for economic, scientific and technical cooperation.

The agreement comes barely a month after Uganda’s ministry of energy team led by Undersecretary Prisca Boonabantu travelled to China at the invitation of Zhonguan Engineering Corporation (CZEC), a subsidiary of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), as part of the ongoing discussions with Beijing to help Kampala develop peaceful nuclear at about $3 billion.

*Runs out to google uganda's population* i'm back uganda's population is 41.5 mill. Total land area is 77.149 sq m. But somewhere in the opp direction in west africa lies a certain gaint with almost 200 mill. Still trying to produce hb pencils by 2018 in 6months time yet they never carve out land where the factory will be located its not even on the budget. Yet the minister of science and tech mr onu promised to be the best of ministers apc will produce. Well he still has less than 24 months to do so. Meanwhile about 50 years ago (september) a certain Gordian ezekwe worked under heavy bombardment to give africa its first indigenous weapon of mass destruction: THE OGBUNIGWE

The first nuclear research plant was built in DRC and then South Africa with the help of France built Africa's only functioning nuclear power plant and South Africa also has 3 nuclear power stations in the pipeline by 2030 time line.

The first nuclear weapon and ICBM on african soil was built in South Africa in 1989 and was dismantled voluntarily in 1995. South Africa still has a nuclear fuel enrichment plant running and it still has 100kilotons of weapons grade fuel stored. The US recently complaint that SA still has it weapons grade nuclear material but SA gov told them to FUuuck offgrin.

So OP I suggest you research so you can post with an informed view point.

100kilotons of weapons grade fuel=100X1000 tons=100,000 tones of weapon grade material

South Africa according to open source data has around 300kg of weapon grade material
