Igbo's Cannot Leave The North Because Of Their Numerous Investments by izuagba: 8:42am On Jun 22, 2017 |
Former Kano State governor, Senator Rabiu Musa kwankwaso (APC, Kano Central) yesterday said Igbo in the North cannot leave the region because of their numerous investments. He also said the size of the land Igbo presently occupy in the North is more than the entire South East geopolitical zone. Speaking in an interview on the agitation for secession by Igbo groups and the quit notice by some northern groups, he said none of the millions of Igbo in the North would support breakup of Nigeria. “Igbo have nowhere to go. They have more assets in the North more than 80 percent or so of what the northerners have in the East. The land Igbo are holding in the North is more than the whole South East,” he said. Kwankwaso, who chairs the Senate Committee on National Planning and Economic Affairs, said the agitation at both sides does not portray the country in good light among the comity of nations. He said there was urgent need for all stakeholders in the country to put hands on deck to make peace saying, “The unity and development of the country is key to all other things, therefore we will continue to stand by it. Therefore, I call on all to join hands in ensuring that there is peace. We should use our resources to ensure that nobody raise hands to destroy the unity of the country. Talking of secession is going too far. “Some people doing it because of their personal interest. I wouldn’t be surprised that the young man (Nnamdi Kanu) will contest for an election in the next general elections. They started agitation to galvanize support and at the end, they would contest for an election.” Kwankwaso said during his tenure as governor, a layout known as ‘New Enugu’ was carved out in Kano for the Igbo, saying the Igbo are more comfortable there than their states of origin. On the quit notice by some northern youths, he said the general consensus in the North was that the country is better as one family. http://www.biafrainsider.com/2017/06/igbos-cannot-leave-north-because-of.html?m=1 |

Let them go to their promised land, where IPOB have already set up plans to take care of the returnees using a communism template. They will build high-rise apartments to accomodate for lack of land. Necessity remains the mother of invention. I give them 1year as a country, then the world will be forced to intervene in the mindless civil war that would have engulfed the Igbo only country. I only wonder which other tribe would be blamed for their woes then? 5 Likes |

These Northerners are funny as some Nigerians are. There is little or no relationship between Igbos leaving the North and having their own country. What do the two have to do with each other? 4 Likes 1 Share |

Re: Igbo's Cannot Leave The North Because Of Their Numerous Investments by In4matic: 9:24am On Jun 22, 2017 |
kingzizzy: Since you cannot see the relationship, then let me spell it out for you. By the time the igbos have their own country, then they are longer citizens of nigeria and therefore will need to obtain visas before they can be granted entry back to nigeria. To do business or work in nigeria, they'll need to obtain work permits. Their people in civil service, private practice, contractors, students etc will no longer have the automatic rights previously enjoyed except with an array of papper work, not just in the north alone, but the rest of nigeria (lagos, abuja, warri and every where else the igbos are spread). These things wont be automatic. So look again and tell yourselves some home truths. 1 Like |

kingzizzy: It should be clear to any Igbo man or woman living in the North that they are simply tolerated- barely- and not fully accepted there. They're only there because the Northern elite wants to keep milking the Niger Delta dry by keeping Nigeria 'one'. They're being used as pawns here as, make no mistake about it, when the Northerners compare the Igbos in the North to the Northerners in Igboland, they are comparing lives not just businesses. This is a thinly veiled threat that they will 'deal with' the Igbos in the North should we ramp up our attempts to secede. The most ironic thing is that the vast majority of Igbos still living in the North are ardent supporters of 'One Nigeria', with many even regarding themselves as Northerners... what a shame . 2 Likes 1 Share |

ScotsReferendum: hahahahaha. How naive can one get. Do you have any idea of the millions of igbo people you are talking about? Gov kwankwaso was not joking when he said the igbos hold more land outside the south east than the whole of the entire south east! How will you feed them? How will you house them? With what resources? Will you help them move all their spare parts and bales of cheap clothes all the way back to the east? Even if you succeed with that, who will buy them? Think my bro, think! |

In4matic: Don't worry about us After all, we survived after the civil war Once Biafra is established, with our resources, we can quickly lay down the infrastructure that supports business and empower those businesses to expand globally. 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: Igbo's Cannot Leave The North Because Of Their Numerous Investments by In4matic: 9:50am On Jun 22, 2017 |
ScotsReferendum: LOL... You survived the civil war ehn? Look here, the only reason you survived the civil war was because of foreign aid. The only reason you thrived after the civil war was only because the rest of nigeria re-embraced you, gave you an enabling environment, allowed you own properties and even married their daughters. There's nothing unique your forebears did. |

genearts: thank God u were told not that you have first hand info what is the land mass of the east and what land mass do the igbos occupy outside the east? stop allowing politicians to decieve you of the truth it is time the igbos look homeward, before the crisis that hit jos the ijaws and urhrobos sold their property and moved home, after the crisis the yoruba's did same and i think it is time the igbos do same 1 Like |

ScotsReferendum: Lol, so anybody who speaks with reason is now afonja. Hehehe. As my people will say, "dem no dey tell blind man say market don close, wen time reach, he go know". You keep saying you will empower your people. With what sef, your paper money biafran pounds, or you'll compel your business moguls to cough up their stashed dollars and give it freely to the new state? Or you want to start exporting your cheap 2nd hand clothes, fake drugs, substandard materials your people excel at selling? In fact the more i think of it, the more i think you people should really go. But dont fool yourslves for one minute that the south south will join you. It'll be easier for cameroun to join you than the niger delta. |
