westlife79: Bro, please don't compare Emirates with other airlines, to me it is the best but na money oh! Even the fare for its economy is more than that for some airlines business class. Flew it once but not from my pocket. If I were to pay, I can't imagine myself paying almost double of what some airlines take. |

The differences I have heard people who use them say are the legroom and the assortment of food, drinks and entertainment on board to choose from. And the hosts are extra attentive. These are for foreign flights though. All my international flights are on Economy. They are like on auto-select on my devices. I aint even mad, man. |

LionDeLeo: You can't make assumptions for an experience you have never had. Observations is very different from experience. The 1st class experience varies from one airline to another, it's not just the number of seats per row. Some 1st class experience includes full length bed space for long flights, assorted food and drinks, VIP lounge etc 2 Likes 1 Share |

LifeCoachAndre: I flew egyptair economy class to Mumbai enroute Cairo, 16 hrs waiting time in Cairo was spent in a 4-star hotel, free breakfast and lunch, (eat whatever u want and if you like eat everything), wifi, comfortable transport to the hotel, etc. So now what other remarkably special treatment is there? Can't say for full length bed space, flew only three airlines viz; Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, and egyptair. But egyptair more frequently because it's cheaper. Abegii. |

Faster check-ins More leg room, 2 seats per row instead of 3 Newspaper to read (who does that these days) Cuisine is a lil better than economy You might be lucky to meet someone important you wouldn't have gotten the chance to meet on economy Shikena |

uboma:Never flown Business class myself but a colleague did (London to Abu Dhabi). 1. He had access to the executive lounge at the airport with free drinks and food plus massage. 2. He was dropped off at the Hotel in Abu Dhabi by a Limousine. 3. More leg room and priority service before boarding, after boarding and when you arrive. 4. In flight food is better than economy (Variety, quantity and quality) - For first class some airlines have a chef onboard who will cook the food for you. 5. More air miles. 6. More baggage allowance 7. etc. -------------------------------- For first class the benefits are even better than those listed above including shower facilities, bed so you can lie down and other complimentary services. If I am paying, then Business class will do (can't afford it for now) but won't mind 1st class if my company is paying. |

I happen to have flown Emirates Business class on two occasions from the US. I wouldn't consider myself rich or prodigal. On both occasions, the journey from New York to Dubai was about 12 hours, then I had several hrs (>4 hrs) layover in Dubai, before onward journey to my final destination. On Emirates, there are many services that are unique to First/Business class passengers, such as access to airport lounges, free unlimited access to champagne (and other select brands of wine), proper 3 course meal pampering, fully reclining seats with beds and pillows, massaging chairs, bigger seat screens, personal bars, laptop and USB cable ports (although this is now also common in economy class) more personal services from the flight attendants and so on, but here, I will focus on the most meaningful ones to me. On my trips, the advantages (special services) I enjoyed may be summed as follows: 1) Fully reclining seats: For me, the true value of Business/First class trips is in long haul journeys. For those who have taken these long haul flights, they know how painful it is to sit for 12-14 hrs non-stop in a plane. You can probably pass time by sleeping, watching movies, or reading magazines, but the inconvenience of sitting on partially reclining seats for such long periods is unrelenting, and will haunt your feet and back throughout the journey. In Business/First, you have the compliment of fully reclining seats that double as single beds (you also get pillows and mattress). The value of this may not be that much for 6 (or less) hr flights, but believe me, on 12 hour flights, it such a huge advantage, enough to tempt people like me to spend extra. 2) Refined neighbours: In one of my economy class trips (on Emirates), I tried to recline my seat after take off, because it was a night journey and I was tired as hell. The guy behind me, a bearded Pakistani 'mullah', physically descended on me. That is, he literally started slapping me on the head and all over my body. "Why?" I protested. He responded that I am an evil person for causing him such inconvenience (sounds funny now, but it wasn't on the day). I politely asked him to "fvck off", then reported him to the hostess for physical assault. All the hostess did was tell him that I had a right to recline my seat, but the guy either couldn't understand English or was just a stubborn goat, because he made sure the rest on my journey was very uncomfortable by constantly hitting my seat from behind. Now, I'm not claiming everyone in economy class behaves like this (I've had some very pleasant neighbours in many of my economy trips) but there's always a non-zero chance you'll meet a dickhead like that man. In the upper classes, this chance reduces to exactly zero, because even if your neighbours aren't refined (which they almost certainly are, or pretend to be), your seat is isolated from every other person's, so no chance of unpleasant interactions (again, bear in mind that this is only applicable to long haul flights in massive planes like B777 or Airbus A380). For short distances which take place on small planes, business class seats are typically fatter versions of economy class, so no real advantage. 3) First/Business class lounge: When having long periods of layover, your transit gate might not open immediately. If you're lucky, and you find yourself in an airport with many chairs, good for you! But you may have noticed that airports aren't usually built with a great many sitting areas, not even the best ones like Emirates or Hamad international airport. This is by design! People who are seated are less inclined to shop around. Solution, don't give them too many sitting options. This way, they can move around and patronise the shops, which in turn pay rents to the airport management. This isn't a bother if you have access to the airport lounges, because in the lounges, there are very comfortable sofas on which you can pass out till your flight is ready (just don't miss your flight!). Also, these are relatively safe areas in which you don't have to worry about your things going missing. Emirates lounge also provides 24/7 buffets, bathrooms in which to shower, Bvlgari branded body lotions and perfumes, and free taxi pick up services from your hotel to the airport. 4) Finally, and this is only useful in crowded airports, you get to use preferred lanes which can easily save you 30 mins (or more) of queuing. Obviously, I've only ever flown Emirates Business class, which is why my post seems like a dedicated Emirates ad. For the avoidance of doubt, this isn't an Emirates ad. In fact other airlines may offer better services than Emirates. I've heard of the legendary services of Qatar airways but I've never tried it because it's usually more expensive than its peers. Maybe when I'm rich enough to afford profligacy, I'll try Qatar! 10 Likes |

deepchocolate: @ the emboldened, dude is right. Just imagine a situation where after checking in, you have your boarding pass where your seat number is written, as you go onboard, some airlines still do onboard minor check at entrance. Nigerians will still shunt at this stage, for what exactly? Rather than respectfully paying for excess luggage and check in some bulky luggage, they go onboard with them as hand luggage and be struggling with you on the shelf above your seat which should be meant for you and other passengers on same row. You will see them queuing at the washrooms and some very disgusting habits I can't start listing here. |

LionDeLeo: You clearly have not gone on a long journey Brother....Economy class seats are too close to one another and no room to move or stretch your legs especially when you are tall....Embark on a long journey outside Nigeria using Economy you will know...The difference is just 7UP bro. Besides, The cabin crew releases more of their plastic smiles on those on Business class... |

room089: Flight is not as expensive as you think. If Cross Country will charge as much as 10k between Lagos and Abuja, what are we talking about? I have ever flown aero between Lagos and Abuja at that price. (Two weeks advanced booking). |

The difference is like London - iyana iPaja. Once fly business class emirate and I wish I could do it all the time.leg room, meals, wine, class of people and hostess service. It's better worth it for long distance cause you won't want to come down. Mine was just a short distance. Would do it again if the money is available and always if available. Broke propke will say are they not going to same destination? Person going to abuja from Lagos in a s63 AMG and Peugeot 505 are going to ge there but the comfort if travel is worth buying a s63 AMG. 2 Likes |

uboma: Understanding the Class system will give you a better perspective to this. First, Business and Economy (Gbogbo Ero ). First class is pretty much you having your privacy much to yourself, The elitists and royals fly mostly in this category. They mostly would want their privacy and would not want to be disturbed or taken by peoples faces, hence they choose to have a first class ticket booked where they can have pretty much anything to themselves, some other benefits may include a view into the pilots cabin, more variety in the food , entertainment and drinks. Business Class as the saying goes, Gives privacy and also allows for networking, Most executives of Companies fly this for the main and sole purpose of meeting like minds, exchanging contacts , discussing business and pitching ideas to prospects. Some women also use this opportunity to sell their trade, i know of a few that get contacts from their insiders that let them know the time and dates some elites are flying , they will book sits next to those elites and dress erotically just to entice those men, who of cos would not want such a sexy and luscious looking woman pass them by. this also comes to more variety in food , entertainment and Drinks too. Economy; this is the variety that is for every Tom Dick and Harry, this is just a way to say...i just want to get to my destination, rarely are business discussions initiated on such flights, but some do... Many may also meet their future wives or husbands in this category as it is a more relaxing class. By the way, all in the different classes take off and arrive at the same time!! lol My post was based on international routes, I do not know of local flights that have First Class arrangement , But some have business class which in most cases are the seats in front of the plane coming with bigger capacity seats. |
